This place is SO LOUD.
We went to celebrate a friend's birthday while we were in town and our experience was poor, to say the least.
First off, the space was incredibly loudâthere was so much noise from both the music, sports games, and other patrons that it was impossible to have a decent conversation. We were practically yelling to be able to hear each other and the staff was also having to yell just to take our order. It felt more like a nightclub than a restaurant with all the unnecessary noise.
On top of that, the service was painfully slow. Our server took forever to even acknowledge us and then it took ages to get our food. After placing our drink order after having already sat down for well over 10 minutes, we were told that the drinks would be a while because their bar was busy. 2 people had ordered water. It took over 20 minutes to get our drinks.
2 people from our table got their food first after waiting 45 minutes and then the rest of us were just sitting there waiting for another 15 minutes for our food to come. Once the food was out, the server never even checked in, which would have been great since part of the meal was inedible.
When the food finally arrived, we couldnât believe how salty everything was. We ordered: The CBH Donair 2/5 Overly salty and very soggy. The meat resembled sandwich meat and didn't feel like donair meat at all. 2 of us ordered this dish so the letdown was real. One person got fries, which were a small offering for the price of the plate, and the other got a side salad that they couldn't eat due to the overwhelming metallic taste.
Crispy Chicken Cobb Salad 1/5 To start, it's extremely poorly plated. With the way its put in their bowl, you can't mix the salad or pick up any lettuce without the cheese and other toppings falling all over the table out of the bowl. The crispy chicken was super dry and cold by the time it got to the table. The lettuce tasted like it had been sitting out for too long and had a strange metallic flavor which made the entire dish off-putting.
Donair Poutine 0/5 We ordered a large thinking that for the extra $7 they would be getting a decent sized dish...we were wrong. It arrived at the table barely luke warm, not even the cheese was melty, and gravy the was runny. The gravy tasted like a powder gravy and had an overwhelming rosemary taste. The added donair sauce made the entire dish a weird mix of sweet and super salty.
When we finally had the server come by and told them about the metallic tasting lettuce, they apologized and said they would tell the kitchen yet didn't offer an alternative side or a fix for the Cob salad.
We had heard decent things about this place, but this visit was a major letdown. We made a reservation to celebrate the birthday and felt so awful that we took the birthday person here. Between the awful service, bad food, and overwhelming noise, we wonât be...
Read moreIâm giving this place five stars because I donât want to penalize them for being something that simply isnât my style. I should have done more research beforehand, as I was expecting more of a brewery-style restaurant, but it turns out this is a full-on sports bar. That said, Iâll review it based on my experience.
I went with my wife and two friends to celebrate a special occasion. When we first walked in, I was impressed by the decor. The abundance of TVs, sports memorabilia, and creative finishes really made the place stand out. Itâs clear they put effort into the atmosphere, and they did a great job setting it up.
However, I was surprised when an announcement over the speakers made it clear this was a sports bar. Not a problem for some, but not quite what I was expecting for the evening.
Unfortunately, my experience took a hit when I visited the restroom. The bathrooms were cramped, unclean, and frankly in bad shapeâloose toilet seats and a level of grime that reminded me of a gas station or stadium restroom. It was surprising, considering the restaurant hasnât been open long. If the bathrooms were better maintained, it could make a big difference for me.
On to the food and drinks: our group ordered four different items, and I sampled them all. The food was decentânot bad, not amazing, but good enough for the price. The menu had a nice variety, and the drink selection was impressive if you enjoy cocktails or specialty drinks. For me, the lack of craft beer options was a bit of a letdown, as the focus seemed to be on budget-friendly choices like pitchers of Budweiser. Great for hanging out with friends after a round of golf or watching a big game, but not the best fit for a more casual date night vibe.
All in all, this is a solid sports bar that seems to serve its purpose well. For people who enjoy that scene, I think itâs a great choice. For me, cleaner and better-maintained restrooms would honestly be the deciding factor between visiting regularly or not...

I really enjoy the atmosphere here, especially during hockey games, and the beer selection is impressive. I love how many TVs there are and that they actually have volume on. (The people complaining that the TVs are too loud must forget they chose to dine at a SPORTS BARđ)
However, the food has been a significant letdown. I've tried several dishes, but unfortunately, they often arrive cold and lack flavor.
I would definitely steer clear of the poutines. The spicy buffalo chicken poutine was particularly disappointingâdefinitely not what I expected from a "Canadian Brewhouse." It was bland and poorly presented, served on a plate rather than the traditional style. The mozzarella cheese felt out of place, and the gravy tasted like it had been sitting around for days without seasoning. Plus, there were no cheese curds. For $16 plus tax, it was a real disappointment, although I appreciated the server's offer of a small discount. The only tasty item I've had so far is the free cheesy bread appetizer that comes with signing up for their app.
My friends and I also found the tacos unappetizing and ice cold, with many left untouched.
Another issue that detracts from the experience was the bathroom situation. Though I do like having my own private stall, sharing facilities with men isn't ideal. I often find the single stalls to be unclean, with urine all over the floors and toilets and the seats left up. On top of that, some toilets wobble as if they're not secured properly, and the doors donât lock well. Wasnât this place just built?
Overall, I see potential for The Canadian Brewhouse and Grill to become a great spot. Iâm looking forward to trying out the upstairs patio in the spring. The lively environment is perfect for enjoying drinks and cheering on your team, but they definitely need to improve their food quality or I don't see this restaurant...
