I’m not sure where to start with my review of Catelowna Cat Cafe, so I’ll just get right to the heart of it - thank you Ashley, for connecting me with my two perfect girls! đŸ˜đŸ€

After many years at our previous no-pets-allowed rental, my husband and I moved into a pet-friendly apartment this past January. We knew we wanted to provide a loving home to two rescue cats that needed a little more patience and understanding, as we are a quiet couple with no children, and have always wanted cats to spoil. We started checking local rescues right away.

My husband grew up with a calico, so when I visited Catelowna for the first time, a tiny calico (Monty) stood out to me straight away. I was told by the staff she was a sweet but shy girl, who had been there 8 months, and might prefer a male owner. I wandered around the rest of the cafe, meeting the other kitties, but found myself looking back to Monty on her cat tree. When she mewed at me, I decided to carefully approach her, and when she let me scritch her chin, I knew I had to bring Tristan back to meet her.

The staff were right about her preference, as the moment they met, they both fell in love! She was immediately brushing up against him for pets, and snuggling into his stomach. We both didn’t feel that this dainty little lady suited the name Monty, and as she was only 2, we thought we could try renaming her. Tristan suggested Magnolia, aka ‘Maggie’. The day we picked her up she settled right in, and started answering to her new name right away!

Watching Maggie come out of her shell has been such a joy. She sleeps in our bed snuggled up to us every night, wants to eat her meals with us, even follows us into the bathroom to play through the shower curtain. She is such a cuddle bug, and so chatty as well! We have loved learning what all of her different mews, trills and chirps mean.

Ashley knew that we were on the hunt for a sister for Maggie, and when Bridget arrived at the cafe, she reached out to us. We had experienced a heartbreak at another rescue, and it all felt full circle the moment we saw the photo of Bridget.

A much shyer girl with a long history (Catelowna was her third rescue organization, and she was adopted and returned to a previous rescue at least once), Bridget took 8 days to build enough trust to come to us for her first pets. She trilled happily at us afterwards (her first vocalization!), and we both cried happy tears! She now loves to chase a laser pointer, get chin and neck scritches, and loves her bed fort. We wonder if our timid girl may be catching up on years of missed sleep after what she’s been through. Bridget is still in quarantine, but we already know she is the last puzzle piece of our family. Once again, Ashley was right!

We cannot express enough how much we love our girls, and how grateful we are to Catelowna. We highly, HIGHLY recommend visiting the cafe the next time you are looking to adopt a cat, or even to just go enjoy a coffee and spend an hour with the kitties. The cats are so well cared for, free roaming as they please, and I love that there are rules for visiting them. Things like removing shoes and wearing foot covers, washing hands upon arrival, no picking up the cats, and no waking up the sleeping cats.

They also hold fun events like tarot or yoga with cats, paint a pet picture etc. I love how community oriented Ashley is! She and all of her employees are so knowledgeable, kind, and friendly, and most of all, they make sure every adoption is what is best for each individual cat’s needs. I have visited 5x now, and each time was a great experience.

Thank you again Catelowna! We are supporters...

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this charming Cat Cafe, and I must say it was an absolute delight from start to finish. As a feline enthusiast, I was overjoyed to combine my love for cats with a delightful dining experience. This hidden gem far exceeded my expectations and left me purring with contentment.

The moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The cozy interior was adorned with whimsical cat-themed decorations, creating a relaxed and soothing ambiance. The staff's friendly smiles and genuine love for cats immediately made me feel welcome.

Let's talk about the food—simply put, it was paw-sitively delicious! The menu offered a variety of delectable options, ranging from savory snacks to delightful desserts. The attention to detail and quality ingredients truly elevated the culinary experience at the Cat Cafe.

Now, onto the stars of the show—the cats! The cafe's feline residents were not only adorable but also incredibly well-cared for. It was evident that their welfare and happiness were of paramount importance to the staff. The cats roamed freely, creating an interactive environment where I could observe their playful antics or simply sit back and enjoy their company. The cafe's cozy corners were perfect for curling up with a cup of coffee and a book while a curious whiskered friend purred contentedly beside me.

The staff's knowledge and passion for the cats were commendable. They were more than happy to share insightful stories and fun facts about each cat, which added an extra layer of personal connection to my visit. It was heartwarming to witness the dedication and love they poured into creating a safe and loving haven for these precious furballs.

Whether you're a devoted cat lover or simply seeking a unique and memorable experience, I wholeheartedly recommend the Catelowna Cat Cafe. It is a haven where delectable cuisine, warm hospitality, and the enchanting company of cats intertwine to create an unforgettable adventure. I cannot wait to return and make more...

The cafe and atmosphere is great here! Purrfect place to get kitty therapy and a good coffee/snack, however, if you're actually hoping to adopt, be prepared to lose much of your own control over which kitty you want. They only adopt kittens in pairs (even if you have an active young cat at home already). Rules are rules, but I had to double check they couldn't reconsider since I have a young cat already ( still a hard no) and the rule isn't listed as a "policy" just a suggestion on their website. Most of their more mature cats are bonded, or will soon be bonded if they stay together a long time at the cafe, which again means, you need to be prepared to adopt 2 kitties. I could never break a bonded pair, so I understand that also, but won't they all bond to some extent being in a small space together? If I could have adopted 2 I would have, but my lease only allows for 2 and I already have 1. So with my very limited choices I decided on a few different cats. They ask that you email them your decisions after going home to ponder (which makes sense) but then your email (as I learned) may sit in spam unanswered for days while they continue to promote or even adopt the cat you tried to enquire about. Anyone might find this frustrating, then when you reach out on social media (because they're obviously active there) they make you feel like a monster for wanting to discuss adoption in such an informal way... Guess some people really want to adopt a cat and get ahold of them while their email is sitting in spam. So again, great beautiful cafe for very deserving kitties, but at least for me, the adoption process was glitched, and my email sat unanswered creating confusion and ultimately the cafe deciding they just don't have any cats for me to adopt 💔. I will keep looking for a furriend for my existing girl, it's just not going to be from them. This is just my experience, which I feel was very different than anyone else's. What matters is the cats, and they have a...

You can tell the ladies care for the cats. My latte was a typical latte nothing to write home about. There is a cover charge pre hour but we only had about 1/2 hour to spend there and was charged $10 each. We were asked to wear disposable plastic booties on our feet and wash our hands before entering. Boy were we happy that we had the booties on as there was 3 big puddles of pee one that we stepped in yuck. The attendant that was working in the room with the cat at one point walked through a puddle and it was never cleaned up. Maybe they need a swiffer readily available for quick clean up. The most concerning part of our visit was another cat coughing up a storm. He was very loud and was definitely ill. I was surprised to find out he had a respiratory infection previously and was not being kept separated from the others. When I had adopted my cat from the ASPCA there were kittens with respiratory infections there that were kept separate so that the other cats did not get sick. I would be concerned if I was currently adopting from here just because they had a sick cat mixed in with the others, no one wants to end up with a big vet bill right after brining their new family member home. If it weren’t for that I’d tell everyone to go get a kitty 32 cats that need a home is a lot

We were excited to visit the cat cafĂ© as a family of six (grandma, myself, my husband, and our three kids ages 11, 9, and 2). We didn’t have reservations but were accommodated as walk-ins, which we appreciated. The entrance fee was fair, and our visit was really for our older kids to enjoy. Unfortunately, I can only give this place 3 stars due to the unprofessional comment made during the “house rules” briefing. My 2-year-old was understandably making noise in the small space, so I took her out of respect for the other guests. As I was walking away, the staff chose that moment to say, “And this is why we don’t let kids under 5 in.” This wasn’t a lighthearted—it was directed at my toddler in front of strangers, and it came across as making a joke at our expense. It was unnecessary, unkind, and left a lasting negative impression. Looking through other reviews, it’s clear this isn’t an isolated incident. Too many people have commented on staff attitude for it to just be “the customers’ fault.” When multiple guests who don’t know each other all report the same kind of experience, that’s not coincidence—it’s a pattern. A business built around hospitality and joy should never make paying customers feel embarrassed or singled out. That’s exactly what happened here.
