Absolutely awful, would not recommend this hotel especially if you are travelling and not familiar with the area or on a somewhat tight budget. We had booked this hotel mid June, given a price that we could afford and were extremely happy with. Come August we arrive to the hotel (12 hours away from our home) to find out the cost has been increased by $200. We had specifically planned out our trip and had our money put away for the price we originally were given. Once we had shown the receipt to the front desk they said we would have to speak to the manager the following day. So we paid for 1 night as we couldn’t afford the rest now that it had been increased. The next day we waited for a call from the manager but never got one, the manager wasn’t in that day either. So we decided we had to leave Kelowna and cut our trip short. Even with showing the receipt with the price we were given we were still told that we would have to just leave if we couldn’t pay the new price. The front desk lady was extremely rude when we called to let them know we would be leaving and tried to tell us they would be charging us for another night as it was past check out time, even though we waited to hear from the manager until then otherwise we would have left if we knew things weren’t going to be sorted out. Thankfully once the front desk spoke to the manager they told us to leave and they wouldn’t charge us so thats what we did. The gentleman at the front desk the previous night was very kind and patient and did everything he could which we really appreciate! The room was so small we could barely fit our luggage in it, no batteries in one of the remotes, no hand soap in the washroom and the walls were disgusting, dirty and finger prints all over the doors aswell. Very disappointed that all because of one hotel that we had booked for nearly 2 months prior to our trip we ended up having to cancel our trip and go home because we weren’t prepared for something like that. Only nice thing about the hotel was the area as it was directly infront of the beach and a variety of restaurants etc all around, the hangout areas were very nice too. But if your traveling and only have certain amounts of money put away for each part of your trip I don’t recommend this hotel or you will be very...
Read moreI want to thank Hotel Zed for making our first stay ever at the Kelowna location a visit to remember! This was a birthday celebration for my grandson,Zachary , who is turning 11. He and his eight year old brother and I went for one night and we had a great time! We cannot wait to go back. The staff honestly went above and beyond to make the trip memorable. We played ping pong, and the boys had a fantastic time, believe it, or not simply playing on the typewriter in the lobby, typing out stories that they made up in their imagination. Who would’ve thought? A simple typewriter could create so much fun for them!! When we left, Zachary was presented with some birthday swag that he was absolutely thrilled with! It was completely unsolicited and unexpected, and it just gave the trip that much more meaning!
The room was spotlessly, clean, no odour at all, which is something I’m very particular about. I love the friendliness of the staff, I love the welcoming atmosphere, and the smiles that met us at the front desk when we arrived. Do I wish I could have had coffee when I woke up early and did not have to go down to the lobby? Yes! ;) Thankfully, I came prepared with some instant coffee just in case…( the evening before I asked for a kettle and a mug) And when I asked the next morning at the front desk, if they had a toaster, they did! But I think it would be nice if they just had coffee and toasters in the rooms especially when you’re travelling with children and you book a room that has bunkbeds. That’s my only suggestion! I’m not expecting it to be a five-star hotel, I know what I’m booking when I book at a motel-ish place . ( I assumed given there was a mini fridge. I could expect coffee cups, and maybe instant coffee in the room.) Definitely will go back, maybe next time for the other grandson’s summer birthday. Ping pong was great! But I must say it was the staff that made the difference between a nice experience and a fantastic experience.
Thank you to everyone at hotel Zed...
Read moreThis is a WARNING to fellow travelers. THIS HOTEL IS AWFUL!!!!!!!
Location: D+ Downtown and near lake but about 50 yards from a place catering to the homelesss so the street has dozens of homeless and intoxicated.
Cleanliness: F.- I initially switched my room as the first smelled like disgusting old sweaty gym socks X 10. But the second room was exactly the same! It's UNBELIEVABLE!!! The maids didn't vacuum until the 3d day, and wouldn't have if I didn't approach which was unfortunate because the outside is so dirty you can't help but track things in. There was a pile of vomit near my door from someone the two nights ago and it's still there!
Noise: F- Your choice is to walk up two flights and be on the top or face un unbearable amount of noice from the people above. The worst I've ever experienced and I stay at a lot of hotels.
Customer Service: F- As bad as this place is physically the customer service was even worse. I had a young woman (May) who argued with me and tried to put the blame back on me for there being a loud party and a dozen residents above me the night before. It was my fault for not complaining yet they wouldn't do anything if it happened again the next night. I suppose if the building's on fire and I didn't report it they'd let it burn. They should it's that bad. It was more important to her to get the last word and avert blame than be of help. Just an amazing attitude! May was the WORST desk attendant I've ever encountered. They did offer to move me but I'd already done that once and it was actually worse.
I've had bad hotel experiences, all hotel travelers have, but THIS ONE WAS THE ABSOLUTE...
