Update: Visited again and this time around the service was terrible hence deducting 3 stars 🌟 Server Mandeep was unfriendly and inattentive. Also lacks communication skills. They were trying to charge me $2 for a small piece of butter for my kid, a complete rip off. The entire experience of eating out was ruined.
Also I do not recommend Palak Paneer Naan, as they only add spinach and hardly any paneer and charge $6.25 which is not worth in my opinion. (Attaching pics)
Note: The portioning of the curry is pretty less compared to other restaurants. Also the pieces served are strictly 6 compared to 8 or 10 at other places. Huge difference in the quantity served plus they charge more comparatively.
Had Chicken Korma, Tandoori Roti, Coriander Kebab, Murg Shorba and Mango Ice Cream. Food and ambience is good.
Update: Just read your response and good that you replied because your reply will definitely help others decide how cheap you guys are. You guys simply could not take a feedback! You did not even address the service/staff issue I had, shows how partial you guys are. Not just me but everyone checks their food when eating out. Lol you guys are funny. Don't you see what's served to you, if the portioning is sufficient or not? You keep your eyes closed? I am sure you and your family would also do the same. High quality ingredients, my foot! Everyone makes good food in Kelowna but your portioning is less and the prices are high, period! And not to mention the worst attitude. Rating changed...
Read moreI have been searching for an authentic Indian restaurant in Kelowna for some time now, and while there are certainly plenty of options, very few have left me sufficiently satisfied. Either they are overpriced, lack quality, or are simply just not very good. However, Chutney has officially changed the game.
Between my partner and I, we ordered (for take out) the chicken curry, palak paneer, and the paneer fingers. I am not exaggerating when I say this was the best Indian food I have had in my 25 years of living here, and this is after the food sat for 45 minutes on the drive home. We ordered medium spice and for once the food we received was actually a medium level of spice. The curry and paneer were absolutely packed with flavor, although I would have preferred the chicken used in the curry to be cut into smaller pieces. Regardless, everything was cooked to perfection and the chicken literally melted in your mouth. The Paneer fingers were also excellent, which was something we were excited to try for the first time. They came with a sauce, which we found in the bottom of the bag after we had finished eating, but they were delicious nonetheless. The portions are also very generous, and we had enough left over of the curry and palak paneer for lunch the following day.
I will 100% be returning next time the cravings set in. At a decent price point, Chutney is among the best Indian restaurants in Kelowna and well worth...
Read moreI live in Vancouver, and have grown up with Desi friends my whole life, eating the best of the varied cuisines India offers. This is, bar none, the worst 'Indian' food I have ever had. Ordered take out, no rice provided and no mention made of the option to order rice. Naan portions were pathetic, easily 1/3 of what I usually get with each order of naan. When I asked the older lady at the counter snottily told me "we only give 1 piece because ours are so big", for the record, smaller than average. The curry... hoo-boy, no aromatic base flavours or aromas, just the overpowering hit of chili and masala curry. Our Kormas and Masalas tasted almost the same, with no complex flavours of any kind, just a huge hit of cumin, masala and chilies. The rice we ordered on the side when we arrived to pick up, was basmati soaked in oil and ghee, disgusting! According to the wait staff, who were rude and unprofessional, ( have worked in their industry and catering, would have been fired for behaving similarly) the owner and cooks are from India, if so they should be ashamed of whoring their culinary heritage so cheaply! The overall experience is rude staff, horrible, flavourless food and overpriced, chincy portions. Obviously an attempt to take advantage of the older, caucasian demographic in the area hoping they wouldn't notice that the food was below Shopping Mall food...
