The food quality was fine, but the menu items weren't as expected for many of us.
My rigatoni rosé unexpectedly had bell peppers (red and green) in the sauce, which wasn't on the menu description, and overwhelmed the taste of the sauce. It tasted fine but it was nothing like a regular rosé sauce, and if I knew it had peppers I wouldn't have ordered it. It was supposed to have basil but I couldn't taste it, and could barely see it. Also supposed to be topped with grana padano/parmesan, and there was so little on top it looked kind of sad. It was also a relatively small portion of noodles. The noodles were breaking apart and it wasn't super saucy. Slightly disappointed but it was alright. I added chicken to my pasta, and while cooked fine, there wasn't any visible seasoning on the chicken whatsoever. It wasn't dry though. When mixed it tasted as it should.
The lasagna was described to have "homestyle meat sauce", but it actually had Italian spiced sausage inside, which was unexpected. Again, it tasted fine but those who ordered it wouldn't have gotten it had they knew (and also wouldn't get again). Keep in mind if you want to order lasagna, we were warned that it would take 30 minutes to heat in the oven (which I think it did, but that's fine—it's a large slab of lasagna, it's going to need a while!) The tomato bisque that it came with, however, was very good. The salad it can otherwise come with I didn't hear if it was good or not.
Someone ordered a pizza that had arugula on top, I did not catch the name, and it was quite a lot of arugula. The pizza toppings they definitely don't skimp on, and the crust seemed to be that fantastic stone-oven-baked type.
Drinks: make sure to ask which beers are on tap, as they had more available than what was listed on the menu. We had a pitcher of red sangria and it tasted fantastic, but as the pitcher was FILLED with ice, it only served about 3-4 drinks (attached photo). We also had some ice cubes fall out when pouring and our server never offered to bring napkins or anything—the ice just melted and dripped water in the crack in the table (onto my foot!)
Overall: the food was alright. The pizza is something you should try, but the pasta isn't their specialty. Be aware that what's on the menu may not be the best description of the...
Read moreI’ve ordered pizza from here before and it was fantastic, unfortunately though I wouldn’t be back to the restaurant again. Not sure if it was just an off night but the service and food was not at all what we were hoping for. We ordered the prawn linguini, the pasta was fresh definitely house made very good, but the sauce was a complete turn off. Quite plain and straight up bitter. Could have been an off night, it happens, but the service was sadly the reason we won’t be returning. We had three servers, each one didn’t know the requests from the last one. And while the owner(?) did ask us how it was and was very pleasant in trying to remedy the food situation, nothing on our experience was passed on to our servers. We waited for a while for each request even though the restaurant wasn’t overly busy, and each time we had someone new tending to us asking the same questions. Both of our drinks were empty, he finished his meal before the waters came, we then waited for a bit to reorder, though by the time someone came back to check in we just asked for the bill and left.
Again, may have been an off night but I would strongly suggest more consistent servers per section or at least better communication between front of...
Read moreMake this known, I did mention something to the guy who cleared the table. I also called to make a formal complaint. My 4yo son had kids Mac & Cheese while we were here for lunch. I found and still am mind boggled by the fact it was served in a piping hot cast iron skillet. I was simply told "its very hot". My son now has a 2nd degree burn on his arm from simply reaching for his chocolate milk. When i Mentioned something, literally nothing was said to me before leaving. When i called to complain i was told that the waiter mentioned it to im assuming management. Why did no one come to verbally address the situation. Why did it even come out in a cast iron skillet. Why was i not reimbursed for anything. I was told Im sorry and a mass email would be sent out to avoid it from happening again. Someone should have come spoken to me when i said something. The mac & cheese should have been removed from the bill. I could proceed with legal action in this situation... the more i look at his arm the angrier i get. Don't let this happen again, and if it does i sure as hell hope you deal with it better.
Sincerely, One...
