Tamie and her team over at Marmalade Cat Cafe are some of the loveliest people you will ever meet. My fiance and I are from Calgary, and just got married in Kelowna a few days ago, and Tamie and her bakers were a huge part of our day. It's not often that they cater to weddings, but we feel so incredibly lucky to have had their eats and treats on our day! We had a very odd request, as we were hoping to have snacks provided for guests during our tea ceremony, lunch for ourselves and for the special people staying with us at our venue AND for desserts for our reception, and maybe a small cake for cutting.
Marmalade Cat MORE than met our needs, and were so friendly, easy to deal with, and fantastic with their suggestions for our requests. We trusted them every step of the way, and when the day came, they were even able to deliver them to our venue like ninjas. My fiance and I never got a chance to see them on the day, but they went out of their way to help us with all the little things like providing napkins in our wedding colors. :) Our guests RAVED about all the food (and we have some picky picky eaters and foodies from near and far!) and we can attest that everything was delicious and more than we expected. Our little cake was so lovey, and so unexpected! We were just thinking of a small, simple cake with nothing fancy, and they went above and beyond with some small flowers and sugar pearls in our wedding colors and it was so much bigger than I thought it would be! And it was the BEST carrot cake we've ever had.
I can't say enough amazing things about this little cafe. We went to visit them and say hello and a personal thank you. The coffee/tea was great as well and all the staff was pleasant and the cafe was buzzing with many happy customers. I would highly recommend Marmalade Cat Cafe as a stop if you're in Kelowna. Grab a coffee and a bite to eat, you won’t be disappointed. Big big thank you again to Marmalade for making our...
Read moreTerrible experience. I ordered online to pickup. A Tea, A Cappuccino and 2 croissants. When I arrived at the time it said it would be ready they hadn't started the order yet. They began the order once I asked for it. Once I got my tea and coffee I asked about the food so she went to check on it. She said they didn't have the ham and cheese croissant so I went to get a refund. At first she didn't know how to refund me so she gave me some cash. I said I wanted to buy something else as I still needed something to eat for my daughter. I then noticed that I was given a danish instead of a chocolate croissant for my other item. The danish was $1.15 less than the croissant so I asked about it. She said they didn't have the item I ordered. Okay so I said I would like to return that item as well and buy 2 of the danishes since they had those and they were cheaper so I should get the difference back. The cashiers response to this was that she doesn't make the prices which I'm not sure why that matters, as you still shouldn't be charging someone for a higher priced item and then give them a lower priced item. Then she said she figured out how to do the return through the online order and took the cash back and I had to repay for the 2 danishes. However I have no receipt or confirmation by email or anything that a return was put through. I hope that it is only delayed. But wow what a bad experience service wise. I will say that the tea and cappuccino and danishes were all good. I would not go back due to service, also would not suggest anyone ever use the...
Read moreThis morning I was doing some studying with my girlfriend here and we had been there for 45-60 minutes just doing our thing before we got hungry to order some lunch. There were plenty of empty tables as it was almost 10:00 am at this point. As I began to stand up to go order, a man sat down at our table unprompted with a very disappointed look on his face. He didn’t identify himself as the owner until halfway through our conversation so we thought he was just some random guy, and he told us if we weren’t going to buy anything we had to leave because he NEEDED tables for the lunch rush. This is definitely fair to ask, however there were a plethora of empty tables and the way he approached was super strange and awkward and he just seemed angry. After I cleared up that I was just about to buy something he dismissed himself and I bought a sandwich and some tea. Not ten minutes later he was sitting at one of the tables the he claimed he needed, using his laptop and occasionally watching us from across the cafe. Super odd behaviour, I probably won’t be back there any time soon because he was making us feel unwelcome and that we had done something wrong. The ladies behind the counter were very nice, though, and my sandwich was...
