Parlour Ice Cream — Restaurant in Kelowna

Wandering around downtown Kelowna in August it becomes quickly evident that ice cream is in popular demand. After passing countless people struggling to devour some gigantic cones while smiling ear to ear we knew we had to give it a try. It wasn’t hard to locate Parlour Ice Cream, the line was around the corner!

The closer you get the more your senses start to come alive, afterall there is nothing like the smell of freshly made waffle cones. This of course does wonders for the anticipation of the the tasty treat to come.

Parlour is obsessed with local ingredients and unique flavour profiles. New and experimental flavours are constantly being added to showcase local ingrediants.

What did we have? Salted Caramel “House made caramel and sea salt. “

This decadent smooth and creamy ice cream was like luxury in a cone. We tend to taste anything Salted and Caramel flavoured and this was amazing. Big fans!

Whisky Hazelnut “Okanagan Spirits Whisky, Gellatly Nut Farm Hazelnuts”

I really enjoyed this favour. I went back and forth because I was worried would just taste like a boozy nutella but it didn’t. It was smooth, light, maybe a little smokey but in a very subtle way. The ice cream was rich but not too heavy. A delicious creation and I am glad I tasted. While a whisky tasting the next day at the Okanagan Spirits tasting room a few doors up we found out they supply the whisky. That is local!

Parlour is an incredible ice cream shop with a such a welcoming atmosphere, good - natured staff, and ingeniously creative flavours. It is always a pleasure to visit each time I stop by; the product is of superb quality, speciality flavours are created for each season, and the environment inside is well lit, decorated tastefully, and scenery of the Okanagan was painted by a local artist for customers to enjoy. All the ice cream is locally sourced, crafted in house, and overseen by the most caring and kind owner I have ever met; Omar. He does a such a remarkable job managing his business while travelling for work consistently, treating his employees with the utmost care and consideration, and unfailingly stops to interact with all patrons who come to visit this shop. Parlour is has become my favourite ice cream place to visit, and feels more like an close - knit family in the community anyone can be a part of; I wish nothing but the absolute best to the new Parlour opening in Calgary, and know with the management it has, will be a absolute success!
