I had a great experience at the Pacific Poke in Vancouver; however, I did not have a thrill at this Kelowna location.

We called ahead to check if they offer cooked salmon for their bowls (my girlfriend cannot eat raw fish). I was told that yes, this was an option. Therefore, we decided to try out this location, but upon arrival we were informed that they do not in fact have cooked fish. I'm not sure why we were were told this in the first place, very disappointing. Therefore, my gf had to order an alternative protein. She ordered the chicken which appeared to be boiled and had a very strange texture. She lost her appetite from it and could only eat a couple bites.

I ordered a regular Cali bowl; however, I was disappointed to see how little fish was provided in the bowl. It was pretty much a bowl of rice with some fish toppings. I had to ration the fish to make it last till the last bite.

This experience did not come close to meeting the expectations I had after visiting the other Pacific Poke location in Vancouver. I am now skeptical to visit...

My wife and I REALLY enjoyed the quality of the food and the variety of options. The ingredients were fresh and tasty.

However, the experience for me was ruined by the level (high decibel) of the music. I'm a veteran that can and does experience PTSD when the bass (i.e. thumping) of the music gets beyond a particular level. In this case I had a bit of an emotional meltdown (NOT as in creating a scene or disturbing anyone else ).

Yes, I could have packed up my food and left as I felt it coming on. However given the great view of the marina we decided to stay on. My bad.

Given some of the other reviews, I know I'm not the only one who was put off my the sound level of the music. It's not about the choice of the music; not at all. It's about understanding that certain individuals like myself can suffer emotionally by loud sounds.

As noted the experience ruined my afternoon it what otherwise would have been an excellent meal.

For other vets with similar sensitivities, I will caution...

Finally, a Poke place in Kelowna!! I’ve been here twice since they’ve opened and it’s been really delicious. Highly recommend subbing in the cauliflower rice for a less hefty meal. You can also get a quinoa or salad base instead of the traditional white or brown rice. The scoops of poke are less than what you’d get in Hawai’i and the ramen egg is on the small side, but with all the toppings you can get, the “Regular” size always left me satisfied. It’s also pricier than expected (~$19+) and the up-charges can add up fast (+$2 for cauliflower rice, +$2 for avocado, +$2 for ramen egg). That said, I’m still willing to pay up since it’s a specialty dish. I also appreciate that they only use Ocean-Wise seafood! The space is simple and tidy, while the staff and owner are friendly to answer questions. I hope these folks do well so I can keep coming back!

The taste is average, but they do have some more unique toppings (sesame miso hummus, red beets & basil). Portion size could be better for the price. I often go to Pokey Okey or Poke M (in Vancouver) and the amount of protein and base included is substantively more than what I received at Pacific Poke. At least they don't skimp on the sauce. Also paid $5 for their Coco Panda drink which was delicious, but wasn't even filled to the top of the plastic cup it came in. Would go back if I'm craving poke, but for the price and portion size, there might be better non-poke food options in the area.
