There are certain places that feel more discovered than visited.
Tucked behind quiet doors and whispers of juniper and oak, Okanagan Spirits Craft Distillery doesn’t shout. It doesn’t need to. It waits, like a well-dressed secret, ready to turn the afternoon into something worth writing about.
You step in. There’s a knowing glint in the eye of the staff—equal parts alchemists, storytellers, and proud conspirators in the noble art of distillation.
They bring you a whisky flight, and you nod with the quiet seriousness of a traveler who has read every chapter on Scotland and still wants more.
But this? This is British Columbia at its most deliciously defiant.
The Single Malt—ah, the Single Malt. It drinks like a fireside confession: soft smoke, a whisper of spice, a note of caramel that vanishes just as your mind tries to catch it. Perfection in a dram.
Then came Absinthe—green, elusive, a touch dangerous. The tasting was like stepping into a Toulouse-Lautrec painting… and maybe out the other side. Herbaceous, layered, and far too civilized for its scandalous reputation.
And yet, it was the unapologetic charm of their 1.75L BRBN Bourbon-Style Whisky that won my heart. A bottle so commanding it practically came with a front porch and a rocking chair. I didn’t resist. I couldn’t.
My only wish? That their gift box selection was as abundant as their imagination. Because something this good should be easier to wrap up and give away—though you’ll never want to.
Recommendation: One flight, one green fairy, and one oversized...
Read moreMy sisters and I had an exceptional experience at the Okanagan Spirits Craft Distillery in Kelowna, and much of this was thanks to Wyatt, who guided us through the tasting. His knowledge of the entire range—from the botanicals in the gin to the aging process of the whiskey and the subtle complexity of the liquers and absinthe—was incredibly impressive.
Wyatt explained the craft behind each spirit in a way that was engaging with technical detail and a passion that was clearly genuine. Whether it was highlighting the unique distillation methods, the influence of local ingredients, or the inspiration behind certain blends, Wyatt brought it all to life.
Beyond his expertise, the service was outstanding. Wyatt made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, tailoring the experience to our interests and answering every question with enthusiasm and patience. The tasting was perfectly paced, and we never felt rushed.
Overall, this was an amazing experience. If you’re visiting the Okanagan Spirits be sure to ask for Wyatt. You’ll walk away with a new appreciation for spirits and top-tier customer...
Read moreI thought there was a slight issue with my bottle of Laird of Fintry so I reached out to inquire. Tyler Dyck responded and expertly answered all my questions.
As it turned out, what I thought was an issue actually wasn’t! But this didn’t matter. Tyler wanted to make sure that I had the best experience possible. So, he vowed to send me a replacement bottle, free of charge (including shipping to Ontario).
I was speechless. A replacement bottle of the coveted Laird of Fintry Single Malt, a bottle you can only get by entering and winning a lottery? Impossible!
Not only was I sent a replacement bottle, but I was also sent a handwritten card, two very nice whisky glasses, and a jar of Okanagan Spirits’ Drunken Cherries.
Thank you, Tyler, and everyone at Okanagan Spirits...
