We went out to dinner and tried their meal for the first time. Genuine Indian cuisine that is savoury, fresh, spicy, tempting, and delicious! The service was swift, and the environment was pleasant—a large seating area and Punjabi/Hindi music to keep the spirit going. I tried Madurai Mutton Ghee Chukka as an appetizer, and it was fantastic. We tried chicken kothu parotta and madras fish fried with rice. Most Indian restaurants provide gratis rice, if you order any curry, however at this place, we must pay $2.99. Overall, we had a pleasant experience and will probably return to try another cuisine. Edit - Dec 24th...This is my fourth visit to this restaurant, and the service has gotten progressively worse. We must inquire and follow up any time we need to order additional food, beverages, or other items. I've lost my patience; I have to follow up three times merely to request sparkling water, beer, and additional food. I'm posting this review at the restaurant. Really unhappy with the customer service. Moreover I asked for a non spicy Mutton Biryani but it was served very spicy. Management needs to look into the customer service otherwise they're going to lose the customers..

It is a gem in Kitchener for those craving authentic South Indian cuisine, Upon entering, you're greeted with a casual, cozy ambiance that is warm and inviting, making it an excellent spot for both a quick meal or a relaxed dining experience. The menu is a celebration of South Indian specialties, with a strong emphasis on Chettinad cuisine. The Chicken Chettinaad is a standout, delivering a robust combination of spices and tender chicken, perfectly cooked with a depth of flavor that’s hard to find elsewhere. For specifically,The dosas are perfectly crispy and served with traditional chutneys and sambar, just as they should be. Portion sizes are generous, making it great for sharing.Service is friendly and attentive, though it can get busy during peak hours, which might slow things down a bit. Overall, Madras Chettinad is a must-visit for anyone in Kitchener looking to experience authentic South Indian flavors. Whether you’re familiar with the cuisine or trying it for the first time, the depth of flavors and warmth of the hospitality will leave you wanting to return.Must try

Found hair in the maysoor masala dosa and the biryani and they didn’t even compensated . Hi, Thank you for responding to my review. I understand that the food was replaced, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to take another bite after that, the issue was more serious than just a wrong order — I found hair in two separate dishes. This caused not just inconvenience, but a clear hygiene concern and a very unpleasant dining experience. While I acknowledge the replacement, it didn’t resolve the discomfort or the loss of trust I experienced. In such cases, a gesture of goodwill or partial refund is standard practice and appreciated by customers. I wasn’t looking for “free food,” but rather a reasonable resolution to a situation that clearly impacted my meal and experience & even the staff didn’t feel any sorry. I hope you’ll reconsider offering some form of compensation—not as a favor, but as a responsible gesture for the inconvenience and health concern caused. Thanks, Rishabh

I strongly advise against visiting this restaurant. I cannot recommend it for two main reasons.

First, I visited with my two children and younger sister, requesting a buffet for myself while they opted for à la carte, as they wouldn't eat much. However, the staff was reluctant to accommodate this request. A female employee informed me that if I wanted to eat this way, I would need to sit at a separate table. This felt like an unfair treatment towards our family, and despite my frustration, I chose not to argue since we were quite hungry. Consequently, I ended up at one table alone while the others sat at a different one. The staff explicitly stated they could not monitor us if we were seated together, which was disheartening, especially considering there were only three occupied tables in the restaurant. It seemed as though they suspected I would take buffet food to share with my family. Having lived in Canada for 18 years, I have never encountered such a negative experience.

Secondly, I arrived at this restaurant with high hopes, believing it to be an authentic South Indian establishment. However, upon reviewing the menu, I felt misled, as it predominantly featured North Indian dishes, with only two items—idly and masala dosa—classified as South Indian. Unfortunately, neither of these dishes resembled the authentic flavors of South Indian cuisine. The vada was prepared in an oil that was distinctly different from the traditional coconut oil, resulting in an unpleasant taste. The sambar, while the only item that was somewhat palatable, resembled Gujarati sambar rather than the expected South Indian version. I later discovered that the restaurant's owners are not from South India. While there is no rule preventing non-South Indians from operating a South Indian restaurant, it is essential to employ a chef skilled in authentic South Indian cooking. Simply branding the restaurant as South Indian while serving different cuisine feels deceptive to customers. It is my belief that the owners may not fully understand the significance of Chettinad cuisine.

The products offered are quite costly, yet the quality does not meet expectations. Additionally, the staff members do not demonstrate respect towards customers. It is essential for the owners and servers to pay attention to the feedback provided by patrons, as many negative reviews focus on the food and customer service. I squandered 65 dollars without any benefit. For those seeking genuine South Indian cuisine, I recommend trying Dakshin, Jayalakshmi, Raja Chettinad, or Grand Malabar. While their prices may be slightly elevated, the quality of the food they provide is...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Madras Chettinaad, and I must say that this restaurant has far exceeded my expectations. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with warm hospitality, which set the tone for a truly delightful experience. The ambiance is welcoming and exudes a sense of comfort, making it an ideal place for both casual and family dining.

The menu at Madras Chettinaad offers a perfect balance of South Indian and North Indian cuisine, catering to a wide range of palates. As someone who enjoys exploring the diverse flavors of Indian cuisine, I was thrilled to see such an extensive selection. The South Indian dishes were particularly authentic, transporting me straight to the vibrant streets of Chennai. From the crispy dosas to the aromatic biryanis, each dish was prepared with utmost care and attention to detail.

The North Indian offerings were equally impressive. The richness of the curries and the tenderness of the kebabs left me craving for more. It’s clear that the chefs at Madras Chettinaad are passionate about their craft, as every dish burst with flavor and freshness.

What truly set this experience apart, however, was the exceptional service. The staff was not only attentive but also genuinely kind and accommodating. Whether it was answering questions about the menu or ensuring that our dining experience was comfortable, they went above and beyond to make us feel at home. The level of professionalism and care shown by the staff is commendable, and it added a personal touch to the overall experience.

The food was served promptly, with each dish arriving at the perfect temperature and beautifully presented. The portions were generous, making it excellent value for money. I also appreciated the restaurant's commitment to cleanliness and hygiene, which is so important in creating a pleasant dining environment.

Overall, Madras Chettinaad has quickly become one of my favorite spots for authentic Indian cuisine. Whether you’re craving the bold spices of South India or the rich flavors of North India, this restaurant offers the best of both worlds. The combination of delicious food, attentive service, and welcoming ambiance makes it a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in a true Indian dining experience. I will certainly be returning soon and highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates quality food and...

I had a wonderful dining experience at Madras Chettinaad with my friends and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy authentic South Indian cuisine in a beautiful setting. The first thing that stood out was the decor—the restaurant is thoughtfully designed with vibrant colors and cultural elements that create a warm and inviting ambiance. The atmosphere is both elegant and relaxed, making it a great spot for both casual meals and special occasions.

Our server was polite, attentive, and lovely, which added to the overall positive experience. The service was prompt, and we felt well taken care of throughout our visit.

We started with the chaat papdi, which was absolutely delicious—crispy, tangy, and packed with flavor. The dosa was a highlight—it was impressively long, perfectly crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. It was served with four different types of chutneys, each offering a unique flavor, and all of them were delicious. The variety of chutneys really elevated the dish and added a nice contrast to the dosa.

The podi idli was another standout—spicy, flavorful, and satisfying. It had just the right amount of heat and was beautifully seasoned. For the main course, we had the paneer curry with garlic naan, and it was fantastic. The paneer was soft and well-marinated, and the curry was rich, creamy, and packed with spices. The garlic naan was fresh, warm, and the perfect accompaniment to the curry.

Everything we ordered was full of flavor and prepared with care. The portions were generous, and the presentation was excellent. I’m definitely planning to visit Madras Chettinaad again to try more dishes...
