Worst experience. Most of the time Dim Sum doesnt come with exclusive customer service as its pushed on carts but because the dim sum at Bai wei is not pushed on carts that it must be ordered. And let me tell you, the customer service was horrible. My family had reserved it for Christmas Day (everyone knows that any holiday its gonna be busy) yet they couldnt handle the rush. We were sat closest to the kitchen (worst place to be) and so all the deliveries were walking past us. My family thought oh, if we sit closest to the kitchen we will probably be served first. Our first small dim sum dish arrived 30 minutes after we ordered with another table receiving all their food at the same time. So my family decided to wait a little longer. Ten minutes later our second dish came and I had enough. I asked the waitress for our bill and she refused to give it to us stating that our food was coming. During that time our third dim sum plate came and I was furious as to why our dishes are coming out one by one. We ordered 15 dishes and a duck dish. The waitress kept ignoring us and eventually her boss came by and settled our bill and we left. Needless to say customer service is horrible and with the food being so expensive, you would expect better service. Food did not taste well but that's because I'm probably bias from the service. If you're looking for great service dont go here. I expected more from...

A very authentic vibe as soon as you walk in the door. Round tables for big families and a few booths line the window.

Fish tank for the fresh seafood. Make sure to ask for the specials! They had clams this day. Sorry forgot to take a photo. Very good seasoning as I got it spicy. Pieces of pork belly with peppers. Very good over my steamed rice!

Peaches and cream shrimp didn’t disappoint! Lightly battered making the shrimp kinda crunchy. Mini pork spring rolls were hot and fresh. Perfect addition to the meal! Scallops were big as you can see from the photo. The plate came out sizzling and was hot to the touch even when we were finished our meal. The light peppered sauce was very complementary to the vegetables and fresh scallops. I’d love if they had a beef dish like this!

Service was friendly. Extra tea, side of chili oil, to-go boxes, etc… Everything was taken care of swiftly and with a smile. Pretty quiet at 5 ish when I arrived. Sure filled up by 630 upon clearing up the bill. For not a huge spot maybe call ahead to make reservations if they even take resos.

Didn’t know this place existed but no doubt it’s been around for a long while. I can see why! Happy to have checked it out and can’t...

I took my family for dinner after work(oil refinery), so I'm in work clothes. My daughter was going back to Vancouver. I chose this place as I heard good things and saw the food looked delicious. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant by the kitchen, we like to order a lot when we go to restaurants. Price is never an issue. The owner told me thats enough half way through ordering. Keep in mind half my family is first nations the other half asian, after the food arrives the owner and staff surrounded our table and watched us eat. It was uncomfortable, they kept asking if we were done. We didn't get to enjoy our meal with so many around watching us , so I don't know or actually think it was good. We ate it thats it. They waited until the bill was paid until leaving us alone. By then we were put off by this establishment. I don't recommend if you show up in carhartt work clothing or are visibly first nation’s. I will stick to the better Asian dining restaurants we know and gladly give them my hard...

I grew up eating Chinese dim-sum and I must say Bai Wei restaurant’s pineapple BBQ bun is one of the best in the city. The pineapple topper is nice and crispy and the BBQ pork fillings are juicy and flavourful. The only critique I have is they could be more generous with the filling (sometimes the buns are a bit hollow). Egg tarts and pork dumplings are also good picks. The egg tarts are always served steaming hot, but there may be a 15min wait time for it to be ready, so not recommended for days when you are in a hurry. Their noodles are also pretty good with generous portions, as shown in the pictures. A very good restaurant to stop by for a quick lunch, and the food is served pretty quickly when they are not busy (only two servers serving the lunch hour).

If you would like an authentic Hong Kong / South China style banquet seafood experience, this is the place to go. I don't think I exaggerate when I say the flavours are perfectly well balanced without being too pronounced nor bland - their sauces just enough corn starch with salt and garlic. A lot of restaurants err on the side of saltiness to their own detriment. This place gets it right. The seafood soups are also a great choice. Check out their newspaper ad for group dining options or current in-house specials also. TL;DR - Great service. Cozy restaurant with authentic Guangdong style banquet food as well as takeout options. Price is also on point.
