So we decided to go to famoso for some Neapolitan pizza and to try out some pasta and their new addition the grand 16-in pizza. The restaurant is very nice and has the traditional pizza oven that is gas fired instead of wood but still very nice. The staff greeted us very nicely and found us our table and we proceeded to order. We decided on the Neapolitan traditional style and my daughter had the spaghetti bolognese and we ordered the big deluxe pizza more or less to take home. Our food came out within a reasonable time and I have to say the Neapolitan pizza was spot on and very tasty with a crispy crust but tender on the inside and a very nice tasting sauce. The The spaghetti bolognese was good maybe a little heavy on the herbs but that is my taste buds whereas someone who has not spent as much time in the kitchen as myself may not feel this way. All in all very good. The large 16-in pizza came out and looked good so I cut a slice and I checked the bottom up the pizza and it had a good crumb but when I bid into it unfortunately I could tell the dough was not all the way cooked and was actually pretty wet and still raw in the center. My server came over to ask if there was anything wrong and I showed the uncooked dough. They felt very bad and remove the item from our bill. They explained to me the new product brought in being a very thick frozen pizza dough I knew the problem right away. Those ovens are designed for a thin crust high temperature fast bake but introducing a frozen thick dough they have to turn the oven off and use the radiant heat to try to cook the dough all the way through which is wrong for this type of product as it should have another oven altogether. I do believe the staff tried their best to make a good product but unfortunately it is impossible with the thickness of the dough and being frozen and all the ingredients on top and I will not hold this against the staff but corporate should already have known this if they have any knowledge of cooking at all. All in all are dining experience was very good minus the large pizza which as I said I would not hold against the staff. So with this review I would highly recommend this restaurant with the traditional menu as the food is very good but I would not order the large pizza.
So not taking in consideration the large pizza but the remainder of the items and our restaurant experience I would give them an 8.5/10 on the munch meter, it is definitely a place you should try out if you've never been...
Read moreThe waitress was very sweet, but we had to wait before even getting a menu.
When we ordered we were told after that there would be a delay in the kitchen because it was being overwhelmed with Skip orders. Which is fine, but we should have been told before placing an order.
In total there were 6-7 Skip drivers who were served before our pizzas were put into the oven.
I ordered a pale ale, which was decent and not too much head. But only one glass of water for two people, the only other time we saw any staff come near our table was when they asked us how the food was.
We ordered a Caesar salad which took 30 minuets to get to the table. When it finally arrived it was soaking wet, with minimal sauce. My partner thinks it was lemon juice but honestly I think it was water. $13 for a full size was an absolute rip off.
We ordered two Siciliana meat pizzas, no mods. They took well over 35 min to get to us and we were dine in. My pizza was topped very nicely but was SOAKING wet, I was unable to pick up a piece without the slice falling apart and the toppings sliding off. My partner’s pizza was under topped and what there was there was borderline burnt.
It was very obvious that our pizzas were held either in oven or under a warming lamp for the other two table’s orders to be ready because despite coming in 20 minuets after us and with Skip blaring in the background we were all served together.
I also watched what I presume to be the owner or general manager argue with another customer. He had complained that his soda was flat, which looking at it from a distance it was. The owner told the guy he was wrong about it and their machine was fine, when the owner tasted the drink you could tell from the look on his face that the drink was actually flat.
I am going to avoid ordering from here again, the waitress was sweet but clearly was starting to get overwhelmed. The owner was quite rude. For $65+tip you can get better service and...
Read more2020 Edit: It has been a couple years, maybe longer since I have come to the Namao location for pizza. I ordered two Margherita pizzas with the VEGETABLE avocado as stated on the website's menu itself. It was an additional $2.00. On the Famoso website itself, there are pictures of pizza with avocado SLICES, which is what I usually get when I order from Famoso. When I brought my pizza home and opened the box, there was mashed avocado on my pizza placed on like a dip. It had a lot of lemon in it so the dip was sour and tasted overwhelmingly LEMON. This is not what I ordered. I ordered a pizza with AVOCADO, NOT lemon. I called to inquire about this. I do not know if it is the Namao location in particular, since I have not been to Famoso in years, but they said this "mashed avocado" is their default when you order avocado and offered no corrections, asking me to specify the kind of avocado I want the next time I order. I'd like to point out that on the website, there is not even an option for any other kind of avocado asides from the avocado slices under the "add vegetables" heading. Very disappointed and ruined the taste of both my pizzas.
This review is either from 2017 or 2018. There is new ownership at this location. I ordered a margherita pizza with vine tomatoes and avocado. The vine tomatoes were diced into uneven pieces, which is not how any of my other Famoso or any other pizza place experiences have been. When I first got the pizza it smelled kind of funny. The pizza was a little cold and I thought that might be it so I asked to have my pizza reheated. Afterward, the pizza was warmer, but still tasted and smelled kind of strange, like something was spoiled, but I couldn't pinpoint it. The owner offered me a free pizza to go. He also did not charge me for the pizza even though I offered to pay. I'm not sure I'll come back to this location, but they tried to make amends,...
