Cosmopolitain used to be one of our favorite breakfast places, for the food quality and quantity, service and kind management.
Unfortunately, things seem to have changed...and not for the better.
Our last visit, yesterday, was my son's choice for celebrating his birthday with the family. As usual, we called to reserve a few days ahead of time. To our surprise, the seating arrangement was far from normal (the usual) or logical (tables split in between).
We spoke with the waitress, who refused to change the configuration with the pretext that there was another reservation for the next table.
We didn't make a fuss, but the owner showed up and we explained the situation, to which she said it would take too much space and block the way. We explained that they usually seat us in that way, with a few more people (we were 9 people and usually we're 12-13), that it's the end of the unit, so there's no blockage and that it would actually give them an extra table to receive more clients (even though the restaurant was only 2/3 to 3/4 full). Again, the owner wouldn't budge and seemed to not care, which surprised me, as she's usually smily and sweet.
Food was good, as usual, but quantities were reduced (less potatoes and now decorative fruits require a supplement).
Service was good, as usual, with the exception of the bread baskets being served without regard to the split seating arrangement.
The bathroom (I'm referring to men's) experience was disappointing, not to say shocking. One of the urinals seemed to be blocked or clogged, which caused a little flood in the bathroom. The automatic soap dispenser was not functional and we had a soap bottle next to the sink. The hand paper dispenser was also not functional (or simply not filled) and a roll was left on top of the dispenser.
The gentleman that was in the bathroom at the same time as myself, and who almost got soaked by the urinal after use, spoke with the owner but she didn't seem to see the urgency in the matter. When she came to my section of the restaurant, I told her that I wasn't aware if the other gentleman had spoken to her (which I saw him do) and explained the urinal overflow/flood situation. She seemed to take it more seriously and went to speak with some staff, but I'm not sure that I saw anyone headed towards the bathroom.
All-in-all, if you're looking for good food, it's still not a bad place. However, if you're looking for a good dining experience, it unfortunately no longer seems to be the place to go, as it doesn't seem to be on the management's priority list.
The food is almost always good and I originally rated this place 5 stars my latest visit left me a little unsatisfied.
13 Sept 2025 - We come in around 7h05 on a saturday morning, the place is pretty much empty as one would be at this hour. The lady said to sit where we want so I head to my usual spot up to podium or whatever it's called and she says no, not up there. Down here. I'm like, "why?" I always go up there? (maybe not ever at 7h05 but usualy around 8h ish?) She say's something like you have to pick something down there. I ask her why and I think she said she's not going up there so pick something down here. My response was ya, probably the last time. (please don't quote me on this, I don't remember the exact words)
We sit down, I go to the bathroom to wash my hands, I get there and there's a garbage can holding the door. That's always nice!
I go back to my seat, she comes by when my GF clearly has the tablet in hand, I tell her right away to come back. She comes back later, we order, my GF asks for something specific, she says ok.
She comes with the plates and ignored her request completly. My GF tells her nicely, she takes it back and bring it back correctly. I don't like coffee that much so I never ask for any. I just want water but my GF had coffee and the lady came to fill it up maybe 3 or 4 times at least, never once offered more water to me with my glass empty since the beginning. I asked my GF if I could drink hers and she said yes.
She came back with the check, probably saw the two glasses on my side empty and said nothing or maybe didn't even notice as a bad waitress would. I still tipped her 15% which I won't do next time, but at the same time, I don't think there will be a next time.
I drove 30 minutes to go there, my GF drove 60 minutes. Don't think there arent any other places we can go. It's just a matter of time before you close just like the other one if you continue on this lazy path!
I mean look at your sign outside, barely visible just like your plates since COVID. I use to get a mega plate for 17 now I get 2 items with bad service and no water every time. Usualy, when I go, the waitress ask me if I want more water when my plate is empty and all I want is the check.
I'm going to go spend my...
Read moreBreakfast & brunch restaurant, located in a plaza mall, with free parking. Has both booth seating and regular table & chairs. Is split amongst several levels, so handicapped persons or those with limited mobility might want to stick to the front bottom level. Bathrooms tend to be fairly clean; unless the crowds have been particularly bad and messy.
Extensive menu offers a huge variety of choices for almost everyone. The prices may be a touch higher than elsewhere, but it is miles above the usual chain "breakfast places" that have popped up over the last few years. For the price, you get larger portions, and fruit that is actually ripe and tasty, not "just for show" and inedibly un-ripe.
I tend to order the Belgian Waffle with English Custard and fruit, with a side of 2 eggs when I go there, and I'm always pleased with my selection, as their waffles are truly enjoyable, especially compared to other breakfast restaurants that I have been dragged to by friends.
Some waitress staff are much better than others; so that aspect can be hit or miss.
Weekends can be particularly busy, so be patient and be prepared for line-ups, often right out the door! Holidays like Mother's Day, Father's Day and such are best avoided due...
