Billy Miner Ale House and Café — Restaurant in Maple Ridge

I can't properly review the Billy Miner Pub because they wouldn't allow us in. But I'm forced to fill in all the ratings, so I'm going to assume the food is good. Here is the story:

A group of eleven of us had decided to go for food and beers at the Billy Miner. The pub was suggested by one of the group who lives in Maple Ridge. He offered us his extra beds and couches so that we could taxi to and from, and have no worries about drinking and driving.

When we arrived at about 7:30pm (on a Friday) the place was packed. We were turned away, as the manager explained that they were already at capacity. Fair enough. We were disappointed, but that's what happens when you don't make reservations. Who knew the place was so popular?

We asked him if the place would be quieter a little later on. He said that by 9:30 there were usually some seats to be had. Cool, we thought. We'll head up the street to the Haney Pub and get some food and a couple beers and we'll come back later.

Which is what we did. One of the guys in the group called the pub at 9:30 and was told that there was still no room for our group. He tried again at 10:30 but nobody answered the phone. Since we were tired of the crappy beer selection at the Haney Pub and wanted to get some craft beer on, we decided just to walk down.

Which is where we reach the crux of the story. Upon arrival at the pub we were told that we weren't welcome, since we had been drinking somewhere else. This despite the ample tables available, and the fact that none of us were inebriated.

I can appreciate that businesses have the right to choose whom they will serve. But the Billy Miner has just alienated eleven beer lovers who will...

I have to say we usually love the Billy miner so I’m sad to be writing this review.

I feel like the last few visits the service has gone downhill. This time I just came to pick up a takeout order of two burgers which I could see was ready when I came in.

I went to the bar like I normally do to pay and the waitress was busy making drinks. But then two waitresses came and waited for their drinks to be made (one of which actually asked me to step out of the way) neither of which asked if I needed help. Finally when the bartender was finished about 10 minutes later she asked if I was here for takeout and one of the other two waitresses offered to grab it for me since it was ready

When I got home with the food it was also a super let down. I first noticed there was barely any fries in the box and upon the first bite of the burger we both noticed they were super dry and tough. After a few bites I started to notice the beef had a weird flavour and when I mentioned it to my partner he said he was just noticing the same thing, so for $40 dollars we had a few bites of a gross burger and a couple of cold fries

January 31, 2023. I went there with my son to give him a reward lunch. Stagecoach Pizza and a chicken sandwich. Both were fine, not amazing but decent. We ordered two beers and glasses of water from the server in the almost empty restaurant at 12:15 pm. The water never did find its' way to our table. Neither did the server much. She brought two beers early on and then after a 25 minute pause the food arrived. However that was it for service. Later on I asked the other indifferent server for a take home box. One arrived and then nothing. My son left me at the Miner while I attended to the bill. But even as I sat there waving at her for 15 minutes our server was very good at ignoring me. Finally I did get a bill, dropped the cash on the table and told her that I was very disappointed in her inattention to a very limited roster of customers, but especially us. She had no excuse and basically my take on it is the Miner has no manager or supervision so these part timers who they bring on have careless interest in doing anything but living off the legacy of the Miner est....
