Okay, so there's a walk-in/take-out special - two gyros on a pita for $11.98. I buy two of the specials for my family - four gyros. I've heard and read so many accolades about this restaurant I thought, "Why not!".
So the gyros meat, right off-the-bat, didn't look too authentic - it was on a spit in an upside-down cone shape as it should be, but it looked like spam meat. Gyros meat should look fluffy, flaky, chock-full of delicious spices and, well, especially..oily! This stuff was not. It really looked like spam meat that was compressed by one of those punch presses that stamp out Chrysler fenders in Detroit. Funny thing - it's exactly the same gyros meat the guy uses in the food court only a coupla' hundred feet away at "Ako Greek". (Same supplier?)
As it is a walk-in special, it is portioned exactly as such. Two thinnish pieces of this compressed "spam" are cut for each sandwich - and then cleverly cut in half again to make it look like four pieces in each sandwich. (That's some astute marketing right there, but who am I to talk seeing as I bought into it?)
Toppings are quite fresh, the Tzatziki other sauces were also quite good which gave these sandwiches a better taste potential. It was like having a Lamborghini in the driveway...and then equipping it with an engine from a Lada (i.e. compressed pink spam meat).
Overall, a "meh" eating experience based upon my expectations from reading Google reviews. Take those mediocre gyros sandwiches to Greetown in Toronto and they would politely hand them back to you. "Opa!"
2 X $11.98 + HST = $27.07 for mediocre gyros sandwiches! It was a Monday and like the fool that I am, hindsight being 20/20...I could have ordered the Monday Madness Special at Memphis BBQ & Wicked Wings which would have come out to $28.00 all in. (Now THAT'S a meal!)
Milton! We need some authentic Greek food à la "Pape & Dan" in...
Read moreGood food but why does this restaurant always insist on taking 40 minutes to make 2 things that usually take only 10 minutes to make? I order through Skipthedishes and they literally ALWAYS need more time. It's not the same when I go there and order myself. I know how skip works and have an app at a restaurant i work in so these guys literally just set the time that high on purpose. Bad service and lazy workers. They can't take criticism either, wow. Enjoy the 1 star!
Edit: Now look at that response! Very professional (not!). Nice to know that Koozina thinks that ANYONE ordering through Skip is lazy. Let's forget the fact that some people actually enjoy their food and can't get it in a timely manner because they don't have a car available at the moment or maybe they're coming back from work. If you can't finish preparing your order at the same time it takes to finish it for someone ordering through the restaurant, then your restaurant isn't prepared to handle the volume of work. Management 101. Skip has plenty of restaurants that have even higher quality than you and they don't backlog orders as much as you do. Calling your customers Lazy and unwanted is a new low that shouldn't be coming out of the Restaurant Owner's mouth. Learn to take criticism and respond in a way that won't alienate your customers. Congrats on declaring that you actually look down on customers that enjoy your food through SkipTheDishes, Akram.
Also, how does it take 50 minutes if I ordered at 2pm. That's when restaurants aren't even that busy. All I ordered was a steak on kaiser and souvlaki. Now that I've read pretty much all the bad reviews your biggest problem is the fact that you can't handle demand. Your food is good, really good in fact but I seriously implore you guys to change your business...

Went here because we saw all the good reviews. Once we had ordered, everything went downhill.
The guy who was making the food was not wearing his mask properly (was wearing it below his lips). We had placed our order and were told to wait 15 minutes. In that time the guy making the food coughed with his left hand, wiped his nose then proceeded to touch the food with his bare hands without washing them. We saw him touch the pita on the grill, pick it up and then he rotated the spit which the food was on. The lady preparing the salads was also not wearing gloves. That was it for us and we knew we didn't want to eat here.
We went and asked for our money back and to cancel our order which he hadn't started 10 minutes after us waiting. Before giving us our money back the person taking the order asked us the reason why we cancelled our order and we said that the employee making the food isn't wearing his mask properly and told him what we saw. The two men went to the back and then they came back out and even then that man did not wear his mask!!
If I am expected to wear a mask at their establishment, the employees should also be wearing masks no matter how safe or whatever kind of screening they go through (which I can tell does not exist at this business).
This was our first time there and we will never...
