Update 6/4/2025:
Food and service are what keeps me coming back. A littleeeee pricy if you’re ordering extra meat, and I've tried other places like Alforat which is a major competitor, but it just doesn’t hit the same so I still find myself coming back to Kababko.
That samoon bread man, the way they make it is so fresh, unique and can't be replicated by other Iraqi restaurants. To best describe it, I feel like some places do their samoon too dense/doughy and the bread ends up making the meal feel super heavy, but Kababko’s samoon has the perfect, thin & almost glass like outer crust with a light and fluffy interior. It’s a delicate bread that still manages to hold its structure very well. I don’t know how they do it but they’re definitely doing something right lol. They also have the juiciest, perfectly seasoned minced lamb kebabs and flavorful garlic sauce I always crave.
The owner always has such a warm greeting and remembers me even if I haven't visited in months and is super generous. Not sure if this a new thing or they've always had it but he gave me a fresh house pressed mint+pomegranate? juice which was delicious!! Definitely a great choice to pair with a sandwich or platter.
It might not be as boujee or as big as its competitors but I love coming here & hope people show more attention to this gem. You LITERALLY taste the difference.

I tried Iraqi food for the first time tonight and it did not disappoint! Super cute little restaurant with a very kind and generous owner.
I ordered a liver samoon, which is basically their version of a sandwich on an Iraqi style baguette, topped grilled onions, tomatoes, and parsley. I also requested for garlic sauce to be added inside. I’ve had liver in different cuisine settings so I was excited to see how Iraq does theirs. I really like that you can see them cook and bake in front of you, so you know how fresh and carefully prepared your food is. The owner took my order- he was very happy to explain the menu to me, made sure the liver kebab was grilled to my liking, and even gave me a free baguette fresh out the oven to try. Everything was delicious! I think next time I’d ask for more sauce but the sandwich was like nothing else I’ve tried before. I’ll definitely come back to order that again or try their other dishes.
Pricing wasn’t too bad given the quality/freshness of ingredients and type of protein. At first I thought I wasn’t going to get full off the sandwich but after finishing it I was stuffed. Paid $13 after tax with no sides and just a water cup to drink.
I really like the atmosphere, it’s clean, seats are comfy, and just seems like a really chill spot to eat and hang out. On my next visit I will...
Read moreI felt CHEATED and LOOKED DOWN upon!! Visited them on Saturday evening 5th July and asked for what options were available with chicken skewer. The front desk order taking girl was the rudest and most inhospitable, as if she was doing me a favor by taking the order. She could not even politely describe me what were the ingredients and was showing a lot of attitude and pointing to a photo as if it was the first time I was ordering saying to 'look at photo' and make sense out of it, as if the customer is an animal. May be this style works in Iraq!! But I'm Canadian and you can't look down on customers who don't understand ur culture. So better learn to behave. Very pathetic!!
Not only that, she overcharged me a dollar for something I didn't even order- a falafel, promising to refund it, which I never recieved. And after placing my order for the chicken sandwich and eggplant salad plus the unordered Falafel, she calls me and tells me she had Infact forgotten to charge me for the salad and charged me a second time for an additional 18$ for it , to which I was surprised how a salad could cost this much..I paid for it but Later when I saw the menu I saw it was for only 9.99!! I can see several reviews now that this place habitually violates their own advertised prices.
Also the food tasted horrible with the chicken feeling like it was very stale since 2 days and not properly cooked. Hoping I don't fall ill. They deserve to have a health inspector see whats going on in their kitchen and the level of Canadian hygiene standards are followed or not.
Please beware of this place, they are only looking to fleece unaware customers.. And by the way you can keep my 1$ as charity!

Read moreIf I could give this place zero stars, I absolutely would. The customer service is incredibly rude, and the food is just as disappointing. It’s honestly baffling how they can mess up both. I’ve ordered from them several times, hoping it would get better, but every single time, I’ve been let down. I keep telling myself I’m supporting a small business, especially one run by Iraqis, but this has nothing to do with Iraq or Iraqi hospitality. In fact, the owner’s behavior was the complete opposite of what you’d expect from someone in the service industry. He’s so condescending and sarcastic, often making jokes at my expense. Seriously, does he look at himself before talking to customers? When I placed my order, I got multiple items, but when I got home, we realized one sandwich was missing. After driving back to the restaurant, the owner laughed it off, didn’t even apologize, and had the nerve to blame me for the mistake! Did I pack the order? No! I just placed it. The lack of accountability was shocking. As for the food, it was awful—especially for a restaurant that prides itself on serving kebabs. How do you mess up something so basic? This place was a complete letdown, from the food to the egotistical behavior of the owner. I paid way too much for poor-quality food and horrible service. I will never return and would not recommend this...
