Been here multiple times and its nice to have a place to get some solid Xiao Long baos without having to drive all the way to Markham/Scarborough lol. We did give their traditional steamed baos a try a few times, but weren't super impressed..the bun part was fluffy and soft, but the meat inside was too little for my liking and was missing something taste wise (thought can't put my finger on it). Their other dishes however are always a hit. We've gotten their shredded pork with tofu and spring wraps, the Peking duck, the eggplant dish, the pan fried dumplings, the noodles in soup, Tianjin style savoury crepe with dough fritter, but our absolute favourite dish there is the stir fried mushroom with salted duck yolk. They're the perfect combination of crispy and moist, salty and sweet and you eat them faster than a serving of fries! 10/10 recommend this dish if you're eating here! Otherwise, the service is typical Chinese restaurant-like and though the atmosphere seems a bit more modern than a typical Asian restaurant, it is a fairly small space, yet they do their best to accommodate. I've come with a family member in a wheelchair before, as well I always dine with my 2 infant children and we've never had any issues. If you can look past the overly "red" walls/decor (which is just a traditionally lucky colour in Chinese culture), this place is...
Read moreAs food enthusiasts, we’ve explored Mandarin and Szechuan cuisines, but this time, we’re diving into Tianjin Style!
The menu offered an impressive selection of BAO buns, but we decided on the PORK WONTON SOUP and PEKING DUCK with ginger, onion, and duck sauce. These dishes are an absolute MUST-TRY —- flavors that truly stand out!
Tianjin cuisine reflects the city’s rich history and culture. It’s focused on mild but savory flavors. Known for its balanced seasoning and beautiful presentation. Tianjin-style food is the essence of northern Chinese culinary.
The restaurant provided a classy atmosphere with exceptional cleanliness and attentive service.
We appreciated the generous pot of red tea and the helpful menu tips from HONG, who made great recommendations.
Suggestion for Improvement: A consistent name would enhance branding and make the restaurant easier to find. The sign reads “GUO BU LI,” while the website lists it as “BAO RESTAURANT MISSISSAUGA.” This inconsistency might explain why it didn’t appear in our search for authentic Chinese food.
Overall, a fantastic dining experience that deserves more...
Read moreMost of the food are tasty here, but their signature dish Goubuli Bao are a little disappointing. The bun is soft and tasty, but there is way too much meat inside, it should have more meat inside and once you bite thru it, meat juice should be spilling out, same goes for the XiaoLongBao it's the wrap is thin, but maybe it's too thin, there's no soup inside the XiaoLongBao at all. The Beef Cheesy wrap have too little cheese and beef in it to charge extra $10 to over the regular ones. Their food over all taste good… just need to improve their signature dish. The Goubuli Mandarin Fish with Chilli Sauce soup is extremely tasty, I highly recommend, but it will be even better if it's a little bit more spicy. Their dumplings are very good too. Will definitely come...
