2025-04-25: Very disappointed and will not be returning any time soon. I haven't been here for a couple of months so I figured I give it a go again since I was in the area and try something new than the usual cup of soft serve or the signature drink. I ordered a large brown sugar milk tea float and got a half a cup worth of ice and a barely passable amount of iced cream. Clerk never asked if I wanted a different level of ice. Without exaggeration, I haven't had a cup of bubble tea with this much ice in years. Usually, shops do about an 3-5cm from the top when full. Not a little over 10. This picture was taken after some of the tapioca was eaten and the ice already melting from the trip home. Needless to say I got a pretty unhappy surprise when I pulled the drink out of the car and into the light of the house. The tapioca was excellent as usual, but it really wasn't enough to save this disaster of a drink. I don't know if this was poor training, staff error, or this is the actual recipe, but this is unacceptable.
Original review: It's pricy, but totally worth it as an occasional treat. The Signature Brown Sugar Handmade Pearl Milk is excellent. Since the tapioca fresh and not dried, the tapioca lasts really well even if you can't drink it within Xing Fu Tang's recommended time window. The texture doesn't change too much instead of getting that weird crunchy texture that dried tapioca has after an hour or two of sitting out.
The soft serve is divine. I highly recommend the milk tea soft serve. It's not sweet like the sort of soft serve you'd expect to get at an ice cream truck. It has a bitter flavour like unsweetened milk tea. It does an amazing job at cutting down the sweetness of the brown sugar tapioca and bringing some balance to the dish. If you aren't a fan of super sweet desserts, I highly recommend this one.
The place is very clean and pleasently decorated. The staff is very polite and patient. I will definitely be...
Read moreI have been a fan of xing fu tang ever since I tried their brown sugar boba milk tea in Taiwan. It was the best drink I ever had, with the perfect balance of sweetness, creaminess, and chewiness. So when I heard that they opened a branch in Mississauga, I was very excited to try it out.
I went to the golden square centre on central parkway, where xing fu tang is located. It was not easy to find, as it is tucked away in a corner of the plaza. But I was glad that I did, because the place was cozy and inviting, with a friendly staff and a nice aroma of brown sugar.
I ordered the same drink that I had in Taiwan, and waited for about 10 minutes. The staff told me that they make their own boba pearls from scratch, and cook them in brown sugar syrup every day. They also use fresh milk and premium tea leaves for their drinks. I was impressed by their dedication to quality.
When I got my drink, I was eager to taste it. I shook it well, as instructed, and took a sip. It was good, but not as good as I remembered. The boba pearls were soft and sweet, but not as chewy and caramelized as the ones in Taiwan. The milk tea was creamy and smooth, but not as rich and flavorful as the original. It was still a decent drink, but it did not live up to my expectations.
I would say that xing fu tang in Mississauga is a good option for boba lovers, especially if you like brown sugar. It is definitely better than coco fresh tea, which I find too watery and bland. But if you are looking for the authentic xing fu tang experience, you might be disappointed. It is not the same as the one in Taiwan, and I doubt that any other place can...
Read moreWe got drinks at XFT yesterday. In the end the drinks weren't quite up to par. I got the brown sugar milk signature drink in large ($7.50+tax). I thought it was a brown sugar bubble tea, but it turns out it was only a milk drink. I later realized the 2nd item on the menu was the actual milk tea version. Their menu is confusing because their menu says "non-dairy" for the Brown Sugar Pearl Milk Tea. So I thought it meant it was a lactose-intolerant version. There's milk (dairy) in "milk tea" right? I'm also a bit confused a tea shop's signature drink is milk (no tea). I was disappointed I got a large cup of milk with brown sugar pearls for such an expensive drink. I usually frequent other Taiwanese boba shops like Coco, ChaTime, The Alley, Gongcha, etc and am not disappointed for what I get for what I pay from those stores.
My fiance got the Brown Sugar Pearls Dalgona Coffee w/ Milk. He could not taste much coffee in his. I don't think we will be back. The price is some of the highest out of all the boba chains iirc and would be fine if the drinks quality matched the price. I took stars off for the high price, confusing menu, and poor drinks. The 2-stars is for the thoughtful interior with the bubble tea stove and lucky stick fortune game. Those were actually really cool and probably the best part of this XFT store. Hopefully this XFT can improve the clarity of menu and adjust the quality of the drinks to match their price. We think the quality of the XFT store in Markham (hwy 7) was really good. So that's why we gave this XFT location a try. Fiance got the same drink, but this XFT Mississauga's version just...
