Housed in the previous Fuwa Fuwa spot, this new ramen restaurant is in a prime location at Golden Square, which I have frequented for a long time! I believe it is one of the first locations of this brand from Japan in Ontario and was excited to try!

I went for the grand opening special and from that tried two different ramens across visits to get sense of their offerings. For the ramen, I tried the Dark King Kuroo (Black Sesame ramen) which is a pretty unique flavour. It was very smoky and nutty which went very well with the tonkotsu broth. It reminded me of black garlic oil ramen from other restaurants, but with an even deeper taste. I also tried the Green King Mi dori o (Basil ramen). As a lover of pesto and basil, this ramen was a nice lighter flavour which brought out more of the natural tonkotsu taste, with a slight sweetness. Would probably be my go to flavour!

The ramens come with branded seaweed and egg which is cool. Egg is pretty standard, slightly jammy, and the veggies like black fungus, bean sprouts, green onions, etc. give some nice texture contrasts. The char siu/pork belly was okay, it was a bit thicker cut and not as charred or tender as some others I've had. You can also add $1 to choose other proteins like cutlet or karaage, which was also average. You also get some sides of cabbage with sesame sauce and some pickled radish/garlic. Overall the ramen with the sides is very filling, and price is similar to other ramens ($15/16 + customizations).

For improvement I would have liked the temperature of the ramen/broth to be hotter as they came out just warm. The green tea served is also room temperature which is a bit weird, and also not that strong. The service can be improved to be more attentive, and getting a table can be more streamlined - you get greeted with the Cotti storefront and have to call over a staff member. Overall a great new option in the Sauga area, and would probably be back! (for the Cotti maybe, you can also order that...

I went to this relatively new ramen restaurant with my family for dinner. We had a subpar experience starting from ordering all the way to paying for our check.

Restaurants have been doing self service ordering for a while now where you order by scanning a QR code provided by the store but it should never be forced. If you want a bottle of water or soda while you're eating, you're expected to stop and grab your phone to order instead of asking your server. If you ask your server, they'll just tell you to order using the QR code and that they can't help you. At that point, what is the point of tipping that much for service if its self-service.

Menu prices are a bit on the expensive side. The Green King Midoio we ordered was not green at all. It was the same colour as the other tonkotsu base we ordered. Pictures and menu specifically say it's a basil pesto base and the pictures all are green. On top of that, all 3 of our soup bases tasted almost artificial and highly alkaline; sort of like if you were to use an instant noodle soup packet. The chicken skin yakitori we ordered was probably the worst item by far.

When paying for the bill, they tacked on almost a 2% surcharge to the bottom line for paying with a credit card. These fees should be advertised prior to being seated so at least we still have a choice. Rarely do places charge a fee for credit cards. Just raise your menu prices and offer a cash discount. It's just tacky.

It's a shame to claim "possessing the largest Japanese ingredient supply channels domestically and globally." when you cannot utilize it properly.

They also say "The store design closely replicates Japanese locations, providing an immersive experience." but shares about half the space with Cotti Coffee, a Chinese coffee company.

If you're looking for decent ramen/service, I'd...

Tried their 'Dark King Kuroo' ramen (black sesame with tonkotsu broth) for lunch on May 5th, 2025, and I loved the nutty and savoury flavour from the black sesame and pork broth. The flavour profile was unique, and their broth wasn't overly salty and oily. I even ended up having to add a little bit of salt to the broth to adjust the flavour, but I'd rather control my salt intake than be served with something that was overly salty.

Service was prompt, and I got to order my food via a QR code. The portion sizes and price were also quite reasonable, and I enjoyed the salad and pickled daikon that comes with each meal set. The only reason why I didn't give this review 5 stars is because my pork belly was a little dry.

Other than that, the ramen noodles were perfectly cooked al dente, and the hot spring eggs were jammy and packed with umami flavour! You can definitely notice the hints of sake and mirin within the hot spring eggs. They also have a nice coffee shop within the restaurant called Cotti Coffee. I got the 'Pampas Blue Coco Latte' and it absolutely tasted delicious! I definitely recommend trying this new ramem joint in Mississauga and I look forward to trying the other delicious...
