A disappointing experience. Went for dinner with a group of 4 people. When we all arrived the manager (man with turban) sat us right next to another table (a group). Even though there weren’t any other guests there, the table to our left was not clean and used plates were on it. There were 2-3 waitresses and the one manager guy. So first impressions: clean up. We waited 20 mins for the manager guy to take our order as he was busy having a long discussion with the group of guys about their less than stellar experience last time. Then he went away. We waited another 10 mins. So 30 mins to order. The waitress did her best to help us, but she was new and only the manager knew of certain dishes. We ended up ordering the mandi chicken platter for 4. We were told it would be fresh, hot with chunks of chicken pieces, not the actual half/full chicken itself. They said it would be about 8 pieces of chicken. We waited 45 mins for the food to be served to us. Not once did the manager reach out to check up on us or apologize for the delay. Keep in mind there weren’t many people in the restaurant. So the food arrives and the rice is cold and the chicken is luke warm and only had medium sized pieces 4-6. We called the waitress to advise her of the issues. She said she’d speak to the manager. No reply from manager. We asked again and waited for about 15-20 minutes for the manager to show up (even though the restaurant wasn’t busy). He couldn’t explain why the food is cold, and couldn’t explain less chicken served. He went to speak to the chef and comes back saying this is how it’s served. We advised it’s unacceptable. He wasn’t helpful, didn’t display empathy and didn’t even offer or give a can of pop on the house. Needless to say were disappointed. We asked for the bill to be adjusted. He said no. Then another waiter, politely offered to give me a free juice. He tried to help. But manager said no to adjusting the bill. Then the owner steps in. He brags about owning 6 locations bla bla and offered a 10% discount LOL. I said no. I said I’m paying $40-50 for this dish, and I’ve received it cold, and half the size. I said I expect a 50% reduction on the dish itself only (not the full bill). He said I’ll give it for 100% free. I could tell the owner was doing this not as a good gesture but to imply I wanted a free meal. I objected and said I I do NOT want a free meal, I want him to of this job based on good ethics and mutual respect. So I did pay 50% of the mandi dish, and paid the rest of my bill. It was insulting the owner had the audacity to brag about all his locations and then as put down said to pay nothing. This goes to show you, you can own locations and be a “boss” but if you lack respect, common courtesy and basic business skills you don’t have respect of your paying guests! Needless to say I will not be going there again. My suggestion: go pay your hard earned money on a BETTER...
Read moreAfter seeing Instagram reels and Facebook promos, my wife and I decided to try their “midnight buffet.” My wife even called earlier in the day to ask about making a reservation and was told it wasn’t necessary.
After arriving, we waited about 10 minutes to be seated, which we didn’t mind given the crowd. However, the experience quickly went downhill thereafter. The very first thing I noticed was that my chair was greasy and still had food bits from the previous guest. I had to ask a waitress to clean it before sitting down.
The buffet selection was very limited for non-vegetarians—just two mains (chicken biryani and chicken tikka masala) and two appetizers (fish pakora and tandoori chicken). The rest were vegetarian items. The tandoori chicken tray was EMPTY! When I asked for the tandoori chicken to be refilled, it took them more than 10 minutes. By then, the chicken tikka masala tray was also practically empty—just gravy with no chicken because guests were fishing out the pieces. I could wait no longer and decided to start eating my food.
Throughout the night, three different waiters came to our table to ask about naan and drinks, but none actually served them on time, despite reminding them twice. My wife eventually had to get up and ask for water herself. By then, I was beyond frustrated. When the tandoori chicken was finally replaced, it was gone instantly as people grabbed several pieces at once. The next refill was quoted at another 10–15 minutes. The entire process was chaotic and poorly managed.
To make matters worse, almost every curry dish was overpowered with chili powder—everything tasted unnecessarily spicy. We ordered a can of Fanta for my son, which they delivered after three reminders and three separate apologies.
In the end, I finished my meal half-heartedly, had the dessert, paid, and left feeling extremely disappointed. We had driven nearly an hour from outside Mississauga, only to end up paying full buffet price without actually getting to enjoy it!
This whole experience was a complete letdown. Poor service, mismanagement, and food that didn’t live up to the hype. We will never return, and I certainly won’t recommend this place to...
Read moreI visited Shaaz Restaurant today with high hopes, drawn in by their impressive digital marketing. Unfortunately, my experience fell far short of expectations, primarily due to shockingly poor service. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that something was amiss. We were made to wait for over an hour, and the service throughout the evening was nothing short of pathetic. Our order was repeatedly served to other tables, a mistake that no one seemed willing or able to rectify. To add insult to injury, our server didn't even check on us until an hour had passed, and then only to ask if we had even placed an order!
It's clear that Shaaz has invested heavily in its online presence and beautiful interiors, but sadly, they seem to have neglected the fundamentals of customer service. While the restaurant boasts a pleasant ambiance and the food i.e Chicken 65 and Mutton Mandi, when it finally arrived, was decent, these positives were completely overshadowed by the abysmal service. The chaotic scene and the constant errors made for a truly frustrating dining experience.
I do want to acknowledge the efforts of the manager, Romil, who stepped in after we expressed our dissatisfaction. He was helpful and tried to rectify the situation, and his efforts are appreciated. However, by that point, the damage was done.
It's concerning that the restaurant solicits reviews as soon as you enter. This focus on collecting reviews, rather than providing a consistently excellent dining experience, seems misplaced. Shaaz Restaurant has the potential to be a great dining destination, but they desperately need to address their service issues. They need to invest in proper training for their staff and ensure they are adequately staffed to handle the volume of customers. Until these issues are resolved, I cannot recommend Shaaz. A better rating would only encourage complacency, and they need to understand that good food and a nice atmosphere are not enough; excellent service is equally crucial. I would consider revisiting in the future, and if significant improvements are made, I would gladly...
