This was by far one of the worst experiences Iāve ever had at a Subway. From the moment I walked in, the staff, particularly one larger Indian woman behind the counter, was dismissive, impatient, and incredibly stingy with the ingredients. She barely put anything on my sandwich, as if she was doing me a favor. When I politely asked for more lettuce and veggies (which is supposed to be unlimited), she snapped and said it would cost extra. It was frustrating and felt like she was cutting corners on purpose.
Then, when we got our fountain drinks, she made a point to tell us refills are extra, saying it in a tone that was clearly unnecessary. Thatās fine if itās store policy, but her delivery was rude and accusatory, like she assumed we were going to sneak refills or something.
What really made me uncomfortable though was how she treated me and my friend, both of us have darker skin, compared to a white customer who came in after us. She let them build their sandwich before paying, but we were forced to pay before she even started making ours. It felt blatantly discriminatory and honestly left us shocked. Same Subway, same setup, but clearly not the same treatment.
To top it off, I accidentally left the bathroom sink running for a few seconds, and she reacted aggressively, raising her voice and speaking to me in a way that was completely uncalled for. Sept 10 I came into get my sons kids sub with turkey and cheese I didnt need any drinks or fruit pouches and the lady that serviced me which I know her she said it comes in a combo and that I couldn't just buy the sandwich alone. She told me either u get the combo or I charge u this the same as if it were a six inch sub. Wow for some bread meat and cheese atleast make me a six inch then. So I got a kids combo with extra stuff. My subway off kariya accommodates and today sept 11 I walked into this subway on kariya and they said it's the same for all. If anyone can shed light is this individual franchises they make their own rules bc of different owners or should policies be the same.??? Then, I was told Iām not allowed to refill my fountain cup, and if I wanted more, Iād have to pay again, which is ridiculous. The worst part was the discrimination I faced. The worker thought I was going to steal and made me pay before I finished ordering. Iām dark-skinned and not white, and I feel I was treated unfairly because of that.
