decided to grab something quick in the airport before boarding our flight. we used the takeout section, thinking we could go into the not-so-busy dining room right next to it to eat, since there was no host by the “please wait to be seated” sign, and no additional signage stating otherwise. i watched as 2 men tried to sit in the dining room while waiting the 20+ minutes for TAKEOUT, and were told that they weren’t allowed to sit there and had to stand in the hallway of the airport and wait, blocking the airport traffic trying to walk to their gates.
i had a question as the self service takeout menu only showed coffee as an option for beverages, and one of the employees who had her airpod in, having a full phone conversation said “i don’t know why it says that, maybe you have to scan the drinks?” and i guess we did figure that out together, but i didn’t think that i would have to have a learning experience with one of the employees while interrupting her personal phone call.
after about 25 minutes of standing in the hallway of the airport, waiting for our takeout order, with about 10 minutes until our flight boarded, i asked a man who was cleaning tables in a completely different restaurant shirt if our food was going to be ready anytime soon and he informed me that the kitchen was really busy. there were about 10 people sitting in the dining room and 4 waiting for their takeout, but i didnt realize a restaurant with burgers and chicken sandwiches could be so overwhelmed by 14 customers.
the same employee also quite literally waved me off (yes, like shooed me away) when i asked if an order was for myself and my husband (since we were the first to order) but instead it was for someone else who had ordered about 15 minutes after we did. that part can be explained, the issue here is the literal “no, not you” waving off with no apology or any additional customer service after we had been waiting 15-20 minutes for our order at that point.
i am not the type to write reviews, or to be upset as i’ve worked in customer service and seen things happen. but this is an airport, everyone is in a hurry, and this locations layout, design and staff are all unhelpful, confusing, and provide awful customer service to every customer that i saw during the 30 minutes i stood in the hallway and waited for my burger...
Read moreFirst time at a Wahlburgers. Arrived around noon. The restaurant, Toronto airport location, was about half full. There were still plenty of seating options. After standing at the hostess desk for a few minutes, with little attention from staff, I decided to take a seat at the bar. I was met pretty quickly by a waitress to take my order and a short time later my food arrived. The bergers are pretty good if you're looking for a recommendation.
While eating, a waitress named Mary started to get into an arguement with a waitress later identified as Satnam K. It seems that Satnam wanted to go home early as she was dealing with an urgent matter and the other waitresses were not happy about it. With a mouth full of food and reaching for another French fry, Satnam slammed down my bill without me asking for it. I thought that this was odd until I observed her do the same thing to two other guests who were also dining in the restaurant. Figuring that she was just preparing us as this is an airport, she quickly followed up with a credit card machine. One of the guest asked, "Are you kicking me out?" to which Satnum replied that she was leaving to head out and deal with a home purchase. Now, I travel once a week for business and I have to say that this was probably one of the most unprofessional things that I have seen in a while. Worst experience ever! I have never felt so disrespected as a customer ever in this country!! First off we were waiting to be seated and the old lady Mary (as the name tag said) who was to get us a table totally ignored us! There was another young waitress who noticed us waiting after a few minutes and asked if we were waiting to be seated and upon hearing a yes from me she informed that old lady! Then she frowned and got us to a table! Upon asking her a question on the menu she rudely responded! And after we placed our order she came and threw a receipt at our table! How RUDE!!!
Then when she got us the burger - I could not see the cutlery on the table as it was way off on the other side! So I was struggling to cut the burger ! Then she just passed by the table and said “You know there’s a knife in that tissue right!!??” (She didn’t even wait by our table to say that but said that out loud while walking to the other table!! Dude people pay to eat out for customer service!! Not to handle your attitude! And if you can’t handle your attitude go work behind a wall not in the front house!!
And now about food!
After my already messed up mood the food could not do any better! It just added more to my frustration!
I ordered a beyond meat burger! The explanation on the menu is fancy but the burger is below average! The fries were not fresh either!
