Me and my boyfriend went to The Old Triangle for food one night for the first time. We arrived, were seated. The waitress came over and asked if we were ready to order. Since this was our first time eating here we said we'd need a couple more minutes. She said, "Okay, but just letting you know the kitchen closes at 10pm." She walked away, and my boyfriend looked at the time. We literally had 90 minutes till it was 10, so I don't really understand what the issue was. But anyways, we really only needed about 5 more minutes to look. We decided, set our menus down. Our waitress blatantly ignored us, and continued to serve other tables. She sat new people down, took their orders, brought them drinks. To get the point across a little more me and my boyfriend set the menus in a pile at the table, so she'd get the hint. She still flat out ignored us. We waited 30 minutes to get our order taken, and only because as she was walking by from serving other people I spoke up and told her we were ready to order. She made it clear she wanted us to hurry up and order, because we only had 90 minutes, so why did she leave us sitting there for 30 of it?
Honestly, waiting is fine. But when she seemed annoyed that we needed a couple extra minutes to decide, then ignored us for 30 mins till I piped up, we were slightly frustrated. Food though, from what I can remember was good. It's just too bad because from my experience at the old triangle I barely remember how good the food was because of the bad impression we got.
To sum up. Food ,from what I can remember no complaints. It was good. The Old Triangle is a lovely addiction to downtown, I'm sure most of the service is lovely, we were just a little...
Read moreI visited the old triangle with my son, as part of our recent restaurant tour, to escape the heat and have a nice small dinner. We were greeted quickly with a friendly smile.
My son had a grilled cheese with fries off the kids menu and I ordered the guinness meatball with a Belgian Moon, unfortunately they were out but I was offered a "Shock Top" instead. Great tasting beer! Points for getting me exactly what I needed!
The fries were top notch, nice and crispy like we like them. My son, however, wasn't keen on the grilled cheese as he found it very salty. I tried it and oddly enough, it was? As if they had salted the top of the bread. We both really enjoyed the Guinness meatballs however, covered with cheese and their own boxty bread. The meatball's color and texture were different from the ones I'm used too, slightly soggy perhaps but they were still extremely delicious and I would certainly recommend them. The only downside is I found it was a tad small, even for a starter, I think an extra meatball would make this one of my go to starters on the menu.
We wrapped things up with a nice brownie served with whipped cream and ice cream. It was big, both of us couldn't finish it but both just loved it.
A very good experience overall, we always highly enjoy it there, it is one of my wife and I's go to dining spot. I really enjoyed this experience with my son as well! Unanimous decision: We both agreed on a four out...
Read moreLarge, open concept, Irish themed pub. I went in for the daily lunch special. Though I am a Moncton native, I've never visited this place despite the numerous positive word of mouth reviews I've got from family and friends.
I visited around 13:30. It wasn't notably busy with only a few patrons scattered amongst their large floor plan. The restaurant is thematically decorated and appeared very well kept and clean. There is ample amounts of lighting that provide good visibility and a warm, welcoming ambiance.
I was greeted by a charming hostess named Carly, who allowed me to choose my desired seating area. I was promptly provided with water as requested and ordered a BLT with fries from their daily special menu.
For something so simple, it was perfectly executed. The BLT had ample amounts of bacon, rich and flavourful garlic mayonnaise, freshly cut tomato slices, and it was served on a delicious locally made toasted sour dough bread.
The sandwich was served with a beef based gravy, which had a slight taste of ale to it and was flavourful.
The only letdown was the Cavendish frozen fries. Though they were perfectly cooked and pleasantly crispy, a homestyle restaurant cut fry would have been more appropriate given the setting.
Fries aside, the service was beyond amazing, the food was delicious, and the ambiance was warm and welcoming. I absolutely intend to visit this location again and would recommend...
