Banh Mi Hoang Oanh (H.O Sandwich Vietnamien) — Restaurant in Montreal

Stumbling upon Hoàng Oanh was a serendipitous event for me. At first glance, the modest exterior didn't prepare me for the delightful experience that awaited. A small sign advertising a $6 Bánh Mì caught my eye, and hunger piqued my curiosity enough to step inside.

Upon entering, the restaurant presented itself as a bright, clean space. Though primarily set up for takeout with a few tables near the entrance, the ambiance was welcoming. The staff, several in number, greeted me with friendly smiles, adding to the warm atmosphere.

With modest expectations given the price, I decided to indulge a bit by ordering the classic sandwich with extra meat for $7. The result was a delightful surprise. The Bánh Mì was not just large but also boasted fresh ingredients cradled in perfect bread. It struck a fine balance, not overloaded with fillings yet satisfying in every bite, making the value simply outstanding.

Hoàng Oanh has certainly earned a repeat customer in me. The experience was a testament to finding quality and taste in unexpected places. However, it's important to note that the restaurant is not wheelchair accessible, which is a significant drawback and something for potential patrons...

I order from here every time I visit Montreal and it has always been fantastic. I think they sold or have new managment because I bought the same chicken sandwiches that I have purchased in the past and this time they had practically 1/2 the chicken they would put in as normal. I saw them making it looked like it had much less, well when I got home everyone 5 different people said the same thing that they were not as full and the restaurant cheaped out on the ingredients. I will not go back again if they think giving bread with a couple of piece of chicken a good thing! not to mention they RAISED ALL...

Coming from someone who frequently goes to the original location on St-Laurent for almost 3 decades, this location is Outstanding. First time (surprisingly) trying the St-Denis location this weekend and ordered 2 Specials banh mi (original with extra meats).

They don't skimp out on the meats and the pickled veggies like a lot of locations recently + everything was super fresh (recently went to the St-Laurent location and was a major let down for some reason ; maybe a bad day), This actually rivals my favorite banh mi spot, which is located right in front (if you know, you know).
