I was in this place recently to have a nice breakfast but the experience was TERRIBLE! So BAD the customer service, very RUDE and with a bad attitude. I ordered PROSCIUTTO Foccacia and she simply decided to give me Salmon Foccacia. I could not see very well and immediately she asked me if I wanted it heated so I answered yes because it was to eat on the place. My mistake was not checking the bill and the details in the moment. I always open the sandwich and I noticed was a salmon and no prosciutto I immediately approached and told her that was not what I ordered. Then she started to argue with me that she was pretty sure that I ordered salmon (all this show in front of the other customers waiting for their orders). She had very bad attitude. In addition, it was my third time ordered the same thing in this place. Then she started talking to her other colleague or person on charge. Same woman who made my coffee and who had a bad attitude. Coffee presentation was horrible, she only gave me a small cup without small plate like normally whatever place that sell coffee present to you. Awful! Well, this woman told me that they couldn't change it because they heated it up. (everything in front of the other clients) In the end they decided to give me my refund...If she is pretty sure about the order, why decide to do the refund? She only had to accept her mistake. First she decided to make the refund of the foccacia because she told me coffee was ok because it was as I wanted but my last suprise, her colleague or person in charge had thrown away the coffee. It's for that reason, you can see, first the refund of the Foccacia and after the refund of the coffee. Wasn't it easier to accept HER MISTAKE and change it to the right foccacia? They lost a client and all the food. It was a terrible experience, I hope no one goes...
Read moreYou might be fooled walking into Ange Bakery ... clean counters, shiny branding, the warm whiff of baked goods carefully engineered for Instagram. It looks like a neighborhood café, but don’t be mistaken: this isn’t some quaint mom-and-pop boulangerie. Ange is a chain, a sleek cog in a much bigger machine.
We stopped in for a quick lunch (sandwiches and dessert). I ordered the pan bagnat, a Nice-style tuna number I’ve had a thousand times in southern France. Salty, oily, honest.
But this version came with a surprise. Mid-bite, I hit something soft, elastic. I pulled it out, and there it was: a used finger BAND-AID.
Straight from someone else’s hand into my mouth.Let that sink in: a BAND-AID. In. My. Sandwich.
To the manager’s credit, she didn’t flinch. Apologized immediately, reimbursed the entire meal, and told us the food is made off-site in a central kitchen. She assured us she’d raise hell with the supplier. She owned it and I respect that. But even with that responsibility taken, there’s no coming back from this.
This wasn’t some back-alley food stall in Bangkok where you expect the unexpected. This was a corporate operation, a system that’s supposed to run with standards and controls. That’s what makes it worse. This didn’t just slip through the cracks. The cracks are the system.
Nothing has ever turned my stomach like this. Ange Bakery? Never again. Industrial food at its...
Read moreThe bakery is part of the Humanite hotel and is new and rather attractive. The food display is great with a large variety of breads, pastries, cakes pizzas etc. The two pastries ordered were very tasty but the coffee was not. It tasted bitter/burnt. I specifically asked that the 2 pastries that we orders will not be too "brown" since some of the pastries (and some breads) seemed to have been left in the oven a bit too long. While the cashier said yes, I ended getting overbaked pastries despite my request. The cashier was probably new and had difficulty finding the keys on the register for ringing up my order and did not know whether AMEXCO credit card was accepted. We were there at lunchtime while it was raining so the dining area was rather busy. We had to share the long table with barstools with others. To my surprise, the (only) two best tables that are couches for 4-6 people each around round tables were BOTH taken; each by a single employee on their meal break! The 2 employees did not even share one of these spacious tables that could have very confortably accommodate them both. I find it surprising (and in poor customer service) that the employees do not leave the "best" tables for the paying guests during peak times. One of them did not even bother to clean the table after her meal for the next user. Customer service training seems to be...
