I recently stopped by Boulangerie Première Moisson on Plateau-Mont-Royal, and it was an experience that exceeded expectations in every way. This bakery is not just a place to grab bread or pastries – it’s a true Montréal institution that blends quality, tradition, and charm under one roof. The first thing you notice when walking in is the aroma. Freshly baked bread fills the air and immediately makes you want to try everything. The display counters are beautifully arranged with a wide variety of breads, pastries, sandwiches, and desserts. Everything looks fresh, artisanal, and carefully prepared. I tried their classic baguette as well as the olive loaf, and both were outstanding – crusty on the outside with that perfect chewy, flavorful inside. Their croissants are among the best I’ve ever had in Montréal: buttery, flaky, and light, exactly how a croissant should be. I also had a slice of their lemon tart, and it was simply divine – tangy, balanced, and not overly sweet. Beyond the baked goods, they also offer ready-to-eat meals and sandwiches that make it easy to grab lunch. The smoked salmon sandwich I tried was fresh, well-balanced, and generous in portion. It’s clear that they care about using high-quality ingredients in everything they prepare. The staff were warm, attentive, and patient, even though the place was busy when I visited. Service felt efficient but never rushed, which really added to the overall pleasant experience. The Plateau location itself is bright and welcoming, with a cozy seating area that makes it easy to enjoy your food on-site. Overall, Première Moisson delivers on every level – quality, service, and atmosphere. Whether you’re looking for daily bread, a quick bite, or a sweet treat, this bakery is a must-visit...
Read moreAfter my intended destination had sold out of Croque Monsieur, I went here as they were the closest place I could think of. My biggest issue is with the prêt-à-manger options, as they're prepared hastily beforehand and reheated without much regard. The prices are actually more than the place that does a Croque from scratch, but Premiere is a franchise and they do have better hours if you're looking for a lunch. The Croque was a premade sandwich topped with melted cheese, the bread was thin and had sopped up a lot of grease and had lost a lot of its moisture. I wouldn't be surprised if it was prepared the day before, but that's fast-paced franchise business for you. The ham was meh, a bit dry on the edges. We also ordered a spinach pastry roll, which was large and the spinach and cheese filling was delicious but the toaster microwave oven couldn't permeate heat to the middle of the roll. The medium roast cafe filtre was actually really good, they get an extra star just for that. It was fresh. In the end, it was $18 for two including small coffees. On Mont-Royal, with more time, there's...
Read moreI am sorry but the guys at Premièr Moisson were racist towards me just because I was Indian. I came inside and decided to order. I know there are two lines. One for like bread and stuff and one for coffee. I was waiting there order my coffee and behind me there was this caucasienne guy and the woman at the counter decided to take his order first. I was like okay maybe she thought that I came after him however she did not entertain me at all she asked another guy behind me for the order and totally ignored me. Later the other girl came and I was super upset but I was like i dont care its fine its just a 5$ coffee. I gave her the order and I told her its for here but still she gave me pour emporter. I was really scared and trust me I know being a brown guy is not good and I have taken a lot from many people but this was something catastrophe on a beautiful Sunday. Honestly, I love Première Moisson the one in cote des neiges or on laurier too and even the one on Mont royal...
