Café Grain d’Or — Restaurant in Montreal

As many mentioned, this is hidden gem. I am mexican and I was craving for some mexican breakfast (chilaquiles mainly). MY wife found this place and we found it very cozzy despite the neighborhood it is located. The espresso is strong as it should, the chilaquiles are awesome and the birria tacos too. I live in the US and normally birria tacos are not as good as this ones. The "licuado" (smoothie) banana strawberry lack of some flavor but overall edible.

I found this place after walking for a couple of hours on a hot summer day and it was like walking into a little latin oasis!

The empanadas were SO YUMMY! They even reminded me of the ones one of my aunties used to make! In other words, these are LEGIT EMPANADAS! 🤤

And to make things even better, they had seats with power outlets 🔌 so, I could even take my laptop out and get some work done.

So this was a happy accident, the spot we originally wanted to dine in had a long wait so we decided to try this place out. Very friendly people, quiet little corner spot. The food was very good. Nothing too sweet nor salty. Just right. We did take some bread/pastries to go and the carrot cake was just amazing! We did have a ham and cheese item that wasn’t good. Other than that, lovely place.
