A Fiesta of Flavors at "Casa Azul" "Casa Azul" (Blue House), nestled in a cozy corner of Le Plateau, promised an authentic Mexican experience, and it truly delivered! From the moment we stepped inside this lovely little place, the vibrant atmosphere, transported us straight to a bustling Mexican cantina. It's clear this is a nice, family-run establishment, adding to the warm and welcoming feel. We started with a generous portion of nachos as a side dish, a perfect beginning to our meal. The chips were crisp, guacamole freshly flavored, prepared tableside, a delightful spectacle in itself. The avocados were perfectly ripe, and the addition of fresh cilantro, lime, and a hint of jalapeño created a creamy, zesty masterpiece. For my main course, I opted for the Molcajete Carne. The sizzling stone bowl arrived brimming with tender, flavorful meats, grilled vegetables, and a delicious, savory sauce. It was a feast for the senses, and the flavors were incredibly rich and satisfying. My companion chose the Ceviche Mixto, a refreshing and vibrant dish with perfectly marinated seafood. The accompanying tostadas added a delightful crunch. The food was truly great! A perfectly crafted margarita was the perfect complement to our meal. It was tangy, refreshing, and the ideal accompaniment to the flavorful food. The service was exceptional. Our host was incredibly nice and attentive. The company was great, making for a truly memorable experience. The prices were reasonable, especially considering the generous portions. Parking in Le Plateau can be a challenge, so plan accordingly. Overall, "Casa Azul" is a hidden gem that deserves to be celebrated. It's a must-visit for anyone craving an authentic and delicious Mexican meal in a warm and inviting setting in Le Plateau. I would definitely recommend it and will certainly be returning soon to explore more of their menu....

We went in excited by the rave reviews and the gorgeous decor, and helped out by our pretty and tasty drinks, but left very disappointed. Started off with the Queso Fundido with shrimp, which was alright. Not sure why they said they were garlic shrimp when they weren't. I also think they should remove the tail before dumping it in the cheese. The big problem was the 70 dollar Carne Molcajete. It was recommended to us by the server and it was completely tasteless. My friend and I were surprised by how unseasoned and low quality it was for that price. The chicken was just boiled and thrown in there. The beef was stringy. The sausage was fine but not like any chorizo I've had. The black beans were red and plain, the rice was mushy and tasteless, the guacamole was generic. The sauce that was thrown on tasted exactly like canned tomato paste. We asked if there were any other sauces/salsas available, and she said there was only the enchilada one but didn't offer it. We literally took most of it to go to season it ourselves at home since we hate wasting food. Throughout the meal we found ourselves slathering on the provided chili oil because there wasn't any real flavour to any of it. The service from the girl wearing black with earbuds was mediocre at best. The girl in the cardigan was friendly and accommodating. My friend says we waited over an hour for our main but I didn't notice myself. If that was the case they should let us know. I liked my Mezcal and horchata drink was desserty. The mezcal, Licor 43, chocolate drink was tasty as well. Both were well presented. Maybe go for the drinks and the mole enchiladas, those sounded...

Honestly I never leave negative reviews online but this restaurant was not okay at all !

I told our waitress upon arrival that i had an anaphylactic peanut allergy.

A different waiter brought our appetizer and served it saying : oil with mani and chili peppers

mani means peanut in spanish thank you trip to mexico or i would actually have been in the hospital.

We finally got an apology after an in depth explanation of what an allergy was, originally she answered us saying :

“well theres no peanuts in your meal” CRAZY maybe someone could have told me that also?

The staff is not careful of allergies on bit which is very low costumer service for a restaurant. This place is not allergy safe one bit.

not to mention the service was mediocre we were served by probably 6 different people and had very odd interactions with each person.

Finally we went to get the cheque after waiting 20 minutes and they waitress said what’s a cheque, i understand language barriers but we had been sitting on our phones for twenty minutes after having eaten.

Overall DO NOT RECOMMEND the services was mid the food was okay didn’t make up for it and well...

We had reserved a table and arrived when the place was nearly empty and was seated right in the middle next to the singers. The table was also right in front of the door and on a very cold day this was unpleasant. They really shouldn’t have a table wedged right next to the stage. They serve a free tea and a lovely tomato sauce made in house in bowls which was very delicious. The starter was good, as was the hamburger. The soup wasn’t well done, the clam had grains and it wasn’t great to eat. We didn’t enjoy the ceviche which was way too sour drowning in lemon. The cocktail was lacklustre you couldn’t taste any alcohol, it was more juice and sugar. Service wasn’t great either, even when the place wasn’t super busy they took forever to come take the order and the one lady taking the order seemed to be running everything and distracted. The good part was it was a very lovely space, the decor and the live music salvaged the evening somewhat. The place tries to be upscale and with some attention to better service and improvements it could do better!
