If you’d like a beer and a sandwich at Gare Centrale, you’re better off just getting Subway and buying a tall can from the depanneur to drink outside the station.
I popped into the bar side of Deli Planet yesterday afternoon before my train. The two waitresses were essentially just talking to each other with another barfly who, judging from his demeanour, had bee over served.
I was finally able to order a pint but the waitress did not even bother asking me if I wanted to see a menu. Another gentleman at the bar eventually expressed his frustration with the inattentive waitresses.
At this point, one waitress disappeared while the other grabbed a bowl of bar cherries and went to sit at a table to count her tips. She eventually got up to give the other patron his club sandwich, walking right by my empty pint class to sit back down to her tips.
I had initially planned to stay for a few pints and a meal but thought it best that I just leave. I decided to pay in cash to which I was asked, “do you want change?”. Replying to the affirmative, she was quite perturbed and glared at me when bringing me my change back.
I also noticed that she went into her own purse to get change which is already suspect. She brought me back $3.00 on an $11.50 bill. When I informed her that 50 cents was missing from my change, she said, “I don’t have any quarters”.
I was initially leave a toonie on the table for a tip (which is a little over 15%) but after that exchange, I decided that she forfeited her tip entirely for such subpar service. This is a shame considering this is the only bar and restaurant in...
Read moreGreat breakfast food here. Our server was something else. I'll preface this by saying we were one of 4 tables in the restaurant at the time, so it wasn't busy at all.
We were hoping to be in and out fairly quickly, so when she brought us coffee, I said that we were ready to order. She immediately responded "non. non. non." and walked away. I thought maybe she was going to get an order pad, but a couple minutes later she still wasn't back and then I saw her topping up other people's coffee.
After ordering, when she brought our food, she put a plate down on the table, and my friend went to move it to the right spot. The waitress snapped the plate out of her hand saying "non. non. Ça c'est pour lui. Toi t'as commandé les crêpes." Yes, we all knew that, she was trying to help.
Later, she came to refill coffee. I took my cup and brought it towards the edge of the table so she would be able to reach it more easily. She grabbed my wrist and held it in place while filling my cup. She also spilled a good splash of coffee onto my hand, straight from the pot, and said nothing. Just walked away.
It would have been terrible service even if the restaurant was packed and they were understaffed. We were all laughing out loud at how outrageously bad the...
Read moreWe had our lunch at Deli Planet. We ordered Maverick Burger, Smoked Meat Sandwich, Goat Cheese Sandwich and Grilled Chicken Breast Fillet from HEROS ONLY special section. Also got Sangria blue & red Flavour and Margarita tequila for myself. Food was tasty and delicious. Had to wait for 15-20 mins which was fine, as they made it fresh. Staffs were super friendly and made sure our family had a great meal. NOTE: For those who don’t know, Deli Planet is a full service American style restaurant established in Montreal since 1995. The word Deli Planet is derived from ‘The Daily Planet’, a fictional newspaper appeared in American comic books published by DC Comics, commonly in association with Superman. That’s if you see in my pictures, posters of Deli Planet newspaper. Even the dining table is designed with the newspaper advertisement column with different languages. I loved the atmosphere and the presentation of the restaurant. Will definitely visit again once we would be in Montréal in...
