Arrived and waited to get seated which was fine.
Once we sat down (7:15pm), we ordered immediately as we already knew what we wanted, a gentleman right across from us orders food 15min later (7:30pm). And a group of 4 that just came in ordered 30min later (7:45pm).
I thought nothing of it. I
t was really busy and there were many uber and doordash orders being prioritized before the customers physically in the restaurant.
They were also only 4 people working. 3 in the kitchen, and 1 taking care of all the customers. So i thought fine, they’re just a little busy, i understand, really.
But then at 8pm , the guy across from us who ordered at 7:30pm, received his food after complaining, the staff member told him, they were prioritizing delivery orders.
15min later, it is now 8:15pm, and the table of 4 that ordered at 7:45pm just got their food (appetizers and their meal), while we are still waiting. So i ask about my order and as to why they all got their food before us, and the first they say is that we ordered after all of them, which false because as i said, i was paying attention to when i ordered and who ordered after. And so after telling her we actually ordered before all of them, they tell us that they actually messed up the order in which they make the meals, and that’s why we aren’t getting our food yet. I’m like fine, so i kindly ask if we can get our meals to go instead as it’s already been over an hour and we’ve been sitting there waiting. They say okay— 20min pass, it’s now 8:35-8:40pm, the staff member put down the takeout bag on our table and says we can pay at the counter when we’re ready.
It was pretty upsetting, there’s not real apology or compensation for messing up there, just here’s your order and pay us. Just feels so defeating when they don’t even try to seem apologetic, no here’s an extra side or comp 1 of the 3 meals, or like here’s a small discount, or a free drink, nothing, just how would you like to pay? card? okay.
I used to go to this restaurant back in 2021 before all the hype and used to heavily recommend it to everyone who’d ask about where to eat in the city, but i’ve seen it so many times, after restaurants receive hype and start to get popular they just can’t keep up and just aren’t the same as they used to be. It’s sad, and i’m not saying if you go you won’t still have a good time, just unlucky that it happened to me i guess, and it just would’ve been nice if they actually seemed like they cared even a little.
Totally disappointed, not sure i’ll go again, and that’s a...
Read moreA hidden gem smack dab in the middle of Concordia right by a pizza hut and in front of mckibbins. It's so refreshing in comparison to the options surrounding it. The staff was extremely friendly, efficient, and quick. The place is small and the ambience is lovely. They've put quite a bit of effort in giving a nice comfortable and warm decor. The menu includes pictures of everything right next to a description.
Now for the food. The food is exceptional. It's a donburi bowl place through and through. I ordered the torikatsu curry bowl. The chicken was fried and seasoned really well, the coleslaw and veggie accoutrements were very crisp and very fresh. My only issue with it, and this was a personal reflection is that the curry sauce made the rice a bit too sloshy for me. The rice could also use just a slight bit of seasoning. But all of that is made up for by how well the dish meshes together. All it means is next time I'll order something else to match my preferences on a more dry dish.
Have you ever walked around and thought to yourself, wow I really want a nice comfy bowl of rice, meat, and veggies and then you look around you aimlessly? I have. And this place was a home run. Nice comfort food, amazing flavours, lovely place, many many menu options to try, and hits the spot. This is the place I'll be hitting up when I want to eat something...
Read moreI went to this place a few months ago with a good friend of mine on our trip to Montreal. It was a chilly, drizzling day. We were hungry and exhausted after hours of walking and travelling. This restaurant popped up in the front like it had been waiting for us—what could possibly be better to end such a day with than a steaming bowl of udon or lovely golden tonkatsu? For a long moment we just quietly savoured the food, feeling the warmth rising inside our bodies and the surroundings melting into a blissful blur. Somehow I was suddenly hyper aware of how close we had grown to each other, of how much I enjoyed her company without a word exchanged between us, knowing that the feeling was mutual. The evening wasn’t over yet but I already started missing it. Months later, when I finally remembered to make a record of that moment, I can’t help but feel grateful for everything in this restaurant—the food, the warm, bright light, and the window that framed a corner of the drizzling dark blue sky—everything that made such a night possible. It would be such a shame if I...
