HABANERO ET AJI — Restaurant in Montreal

Amazing food. My girlfriend is from Mexico and we've tried at least a dozen Mexican places in Montreal—this is as good as any place we've tried, and it's cheaper than any of the other "best in the city" options like Tin Tan, La Capital or Cinco de Mayo. The Quesa Birria tacos are incredible, and the quality is amazing every time we've tried them. Not easy to do great Birria tacos, but they nail it. The chilaquiles are amazing too, and so are the rest of the tacos on the menu. My girlfriend tried the burrito and loved that as well. So happy to see this place thriving. As good as 4.5 stars is, to me this place is 4.8-4.9 on 5. Don't hesitate to try them. Words cannot describe how much better this place is than Tacos Tijuana (the resto that had been there before Habanero opened up). Edited Review, i gave a 5 last time but now it’s a 2 for me. I like the cashier, she seemed nice and smiling. Always a good thing. The wait time for 2 orders of birria tacos was 10-15mins, decent.

As for the food, I ordered birria tacos. I did NOT enjoy it. It seemed bland. I always look for that green flavor (corriander) to help the taste. I did not taste any of that. Eat till you pop or drop. Fast, well priced, authentic...Grasshopper tacos, yes please, more please...Quesabirria, gone in sixty seconds... desserts aren't bad either, though the sablé de lèche was markedly better than the chocolate and needed a good rich coffee to make it perfect. All in all a solid taco counter with a couple of seats if you need that food in you asap. Will DEFINITELY be back to your the whole menu. Think they should ditch the white rice for a Mexican seasoned fried rice too tbh but...
