The only nice thing I have to say about "Homemade Pasta" is that it is a bright, cheerful, clean place—pleasing to the eye and mood (initially) . My three companions had no complaints about anything. In fact, for reasons incomprehensible to me, my husband really likes this restaurant. My food was a disaster. The overcooked salmon was swimming in oil. I didn't touch the pasta because it was covered with a glob of red paste that looked like it came straight out of a can. I saw no trace of herbs. It reminded me of cafeteria fare. But I would have suffered that had it not been for the awkward waitress and host/manager standing uncomfortably close to us and facing our direction for much of the time. We were seated in the last booth by choice. I should disclose that the kitchen closes at 8; we arrived at 7:15 and ordered (under significant pressure by our charming hostess) within 10-15 minutes. The food arrived very quickly, too quickly if you get my drift. These two individuals looking in our direction and resembling mismatched, misplaced bookends prevented me from enjoying my conversation.(My food itself was a lost cause).Their body language indicated that they would have liked nothing better than for us to finish our meal and be gone. I finally expressed my displeasure at the end of an unpleasantly hurried meal when the host/manager had the audacity to suggest that we ought to have switched tables. Imagine how graceful a maneuver that would have been! An evening that I had been looking forward to was spoiled. I didn't mind the bad food as much as I minded the unprofessional service. On a final note: I'd advise clients not to show up after 7 pm. By the way, we certainly didn't linger. In fact, a couple arrived just as we were leaving. I hope their experience was...
Read moreWe drive by this restaurant often and decided to go based on positive reviews on Google. Review in a nut-shell is: school cafeteria level food for $200 for family of three. Would have been acceptable had it been priced at $100. Now for the details: Restaurant is a family restaurant established 40 years ago or so. Decor is reminiscent of a American dinner with vinyl banquettes, art deco light fixtures, small tables with paper covers. They have a fridge with counter to buy ready made meals, pastries, Italian sausages and cheeses. We liked the vibe and no-fuss decor. Service was acceptable considering the atmosphere. The food was of a level that one would be served as a school meal. For appetizers we ordered caprese salad and bruscheta, good old iItalian stalwarts. The bruscheta was sliced untoasted bread served in a basket with a ramekin of confi'd small tomatoes with unpitted olives which you had to assemble yourself; image the untoasted bread becoming soggy with the whole tomatoes bursting into juice. The caprese was also served with confi'd tomatoes in a ramekin with the mozzarella sprinkled with a few shred of basil. I regret not having taking pictures to illustrate that sorry sight. The meals were pasta dishes and chicken parmigiana. Presentation was unappealing and sloppy, the ingredients in the pasta indecipherable and, surprisingly in a place that sells fresh pasta, the pasta was overcooked and mushy. Remember these $12 school meals with the stale bread? Those are them. Apparently the biggest crowd pleaser is the tiramisu and that was not available at 6PM on a Friday. You got...
Read moreFirst time eating here with my family. It started off well with the service and appetizers. We had the arancini and calamari. My husband and oldest son had the osso buco. The meat was tender and it was accompanied by spinach tagliatelle. We were a little surprised by that. Maybe they ran out of regular? My husband said it was too salty and my son didn’t finish his pasta. He said it was ok. My youngest son had the lasagna and my mother in law had the vongole. They both said it was ok. I ordered the pollo parmigiana and it was terrible. I took the first two bites and it tasted funny. I took it apart to see what kind of meat it was. I cut up pieces for my family to try and they said the same thing. I usually never complain but I told the waiter that it was not good and asked if it was chicken. He confirmed that it was but I was not convinced. I did not eat it. We felt so bad that my mother in law who was kind enough to take us out spent almost $300 for mediocre food. So I’m sorry but I would pass on this restaurant. The whole idea of a cute little family Italian restaurant is appealing but I highly doubt they would serve the pollo parmigiana that I had at their home to their their own family and friends. My suggestion would be for them to remove it from the menu. If they can’t maintain the quality then they should not serve that to...
