L'Escogriffe Bar — Restaurant in Montreal

Cozy place, lots of seating options and live bands. What more could you ask for? Sound quality was good. Came here to see one of my favourite bands (Reina Del Cid, Nov 26th 2019) and it did not disappoint! Would have given 5 stars if the bartender had been honest. Giving only 3 stars because the bartender lied.

I had only one $20 on me, and without thinking bought a draft with it, a little under $8 (my mistake, I should have used debit/credit instead, didn't see a terminal and didn't think to ask). When it came time to buy some merchandise from the artist I was short $5, as the cheapest thing was $15. There is no cash machine in the bar, so I asked the bartender if he could do cashback and he went out of his way to lie to me, when a simple "no" could have sufficed. He told me that they didn't have any money in their register as they only took card. Which was a lie, since I had paid for my beer in cash. ENFIN! Depuis le temps que je chiale, et après une méchante débarque il y a quelques mois en entrant, ils se sont décidés d'installer des lumières dans leur escalier qui était sombre et dangereux. Combien de fois j'ai vu du monde se planter en entrant à l'Esco? Au moins 15-20 fois. Et moi, j'ai tombé, je me suis rentrée un morceau de vitre dans le genou et j'ai été brassée par un des gros bouncers qui s'occupent aussi du bar d'en haut le w-end. Il m'a relevée sauvagement et m'a fait des ecchymoses au bras gauche. J'étais sur le bord d'emmener une roulette de tape de sécurité jaune et noir pour en installer sur le bord des marches, sans joke. Bref, je ne sais pas ça fait combien de temps que les lumières sont là, mais merci. J'avoue ne plus sortir souvent là pcq la clientèle a beaucoup changé, surtout après que les shows finissent et je ne me sens plus tellement en sécurité dans ce coin là de la ville.
