We were a group of four and got to the restaurant by car at 17:50. Metered parking was easy to find. We waited 10 minutes at the standing table for a seated place. Upon ordering our cocktail, I had already went ahead and asked the bartender if he had vermouth. He showed me two bottles. I had already spotted the Amermelade so, I ordered from the waitress an Americano spritz (Amermelade version) and seeing her confused expression I explained to her what it was consisted of and that it was served in a highball glass. Her answer was that they already had their version of a spritz made with Amermalade and it was served in an old fashioned. I said that this wasn't the one I wanted but the one I asked for. She went ahead and I overheard her ask someone else about it and the answer was put 2oz of each. Knowing the drink would then cost more than what I asked for, I asked the waitress to confirm what I had heard and I reinstated that I wanted an Americano spritz that had 1oz of each spirit, Amermelade and vermouth which I specified being the Desrochers D one (organic honey vermouth from Ferme-Neuve, Quebec). She left and then came back to ask me if I wanted it in a highball, which is what I had asked at the very start. Once the cocktails arrived, the service and attitude got better.
A friend of ours knew the Syrian and Armenian food very well and ordered for the four of us. He picked everything right and we were delighted. His only remark was that there were some plates that were not as authentic as they should be.
Overall, a good night and tasteful dinner. I...
Read moreThis place was a really great discovery! We went as a group of 6, some of us had been there before, but not me. The waiter recommended that they choose the dishes for us so we can get a taste of everything and we went with that option. One of us was a Celiac and they were able to accommodate the plates and the dishes for him. without a problem! We also weren't sure what to drink and they had a Sommelier that came and recommended wine for us for each of the servings. Both the waiter and Sommelier were super nice, joked with us, had great sense of humor and the food was just Soooo delicious. Every plate was detailed by our waiter to let us know what we were eating and why it was different, where some ingredients came from, etc... everything was just so good and the wine pairings was perfect as well. I can't say I had a favorite dish because everything was so good but also tasted different from the slow cooked lamb, filet mignon, kefka, hummus.. what a feast for the taste buds. Our Celiac friend was able to enjoy it all as well. I will definitely be going back here in the future.
The price in the end for sure isn't for everyone, but you can go there and just get a plate, don't need to do what we did and prices were looking fair. I still think that considering all the food we ate and three bottles of wine and some other drinks, the price was...
Read moreThough not part of the standard list of touristy restaurants this restaurant is a "hidden" gem!
It's near the Jean Talon market and easy to access through the Metro and was full to the brim so would recommend to ensure you have booked a table. Service is excellent, very friendly staff. They are very accommodating and if you want to try more items on the menu, they can create a tasting menu specifically for you.
We opted to go for the standard menu and for starters ordered the hummus and house salad. Both were extremely flavourful which is very different from how such food usually is. For the main course, we ordered the Shish Tawook and Chiche Kabab Terbialy one skewer each. The shish Tawook was juicy, served on a oiled bread which tasted heavenly. The Chiche Kabab Terbialy was completely alien yet incredibly flavorful. I have never tried something like it! Would recommend anyone going there to try this tangy dish.
When it comes to deserts, we ordered the Atayef a la Creme which was not as good as the savoury food. We also ordered the baklava and that was really amazing and mouthwatering!!
Ended the feast with the staff recommended tea which was refreshing but not as good as the rest of the food.
Would recommend you to try Le Petit...
