Bought takeout from here and have mixed feelings. The service is really friendly and accommodating. I had to cancel my first order due to a family emergency and they were very understanding. Placed a second order without any judgement, so thank you again for that. I called to pick up my food at a certain time and it was ready at exactly that time, which I really appreciated. In terms of taste though, I think it's not great unfortunately and it was way too expensive. I ordered the Quebec combo, expecting big pieces, but they were in fact really small and mostly batter, which isn't a problem in its own, but coupled with a $60+tax pricetag, this was simply not worth it. The crispiness didn't last too long and it was soft by the bottom of the bucket. In comparison to a place called shabu shabu on St-jacques (about a 10 minutes drive West from here), you can get a whole chicken there for less than $20, and the taste is superior. Crispiness lasts easily until the next day.
So overall, Les crazy chickens was good but not a repeat for me unfortunately. Price makes no sense,...
Read moreWe came across this place after seeing some people enjoying fried chicken by the river at Atwater Market and we cycled there (3mins).
The owner is Korean and very hospitable. I told him that I don't want any sweet sauce or sweetness in my food and he kindly explained that the chicken is marinated in an original flavour without sweetness so by not adding the sauce, there not be any sweetness.
He took my order and asked for my name. We got a couple's combo and a spicy mayo bun, we waited 20 mins - they prepare the food à la minute and they were so fresh (unlike many places that has everything ready so it's not as fresh).
We had the buns outside of the restaurant and even picky hubby is pleased with the spicy mayo bun!
It was ~5C when we left and the chicken and everything else in the bucket remained warm after a 25mins bike ride home! The food while deep fried was surprisingly not dripping in oil like KFC or any other fried chicken places - this is a huge plus.
I would be back for their spicy mayo...
Read moreSome very solid and tasty Korean fried chicken. Restaurant is a bit small and there is usually only one person working there but service is quick enough and friendly, with the chicken being fried fresh to order. The Montreal combo has some drums, wings, tenders, and fries, with sauce on the side. The chicken is hot, juicy, tender, and crispy, but without the excessively greasy flavor/aroma that you get at other fried chicken places. Obviously fried chicken isn't the healthiest thing on the planet, but I feel slightly less guilty after eating it here. Nice selection of sauces too and fries are satisfactory. I will say that prices are on the high side ($60 for the contents of the photo) but you get what you pay for. I'd definitely...
