Montreal Food Adventure: Patty Slaps

Patty's Slap, nestled in the heart of Montreal, offers an intriguing take on the classic burger experience. With a focus on quality ingredients and innovative twists, it's garnered attention among locals and visitors alike. Let's start with the star of the show: the burgers. Served in a pretzel bun, Patty's Slap offers a selection that's sure to satisfy any palate. While they may not redefine the burger landscape, they certainly hold their own with well-cooked patties and fresh, flavorful toppings. The choice of a brioche/ pretzel bun adds a touch of indulgence, elevating the overall dining experience. Now, onto the fries. Unlike the standard thick-cut fries found at many burger joints, Patty's Slap opts for thinly cut fries. This departure from the norm provides a delightful crunch and allows for a more even distribution of seasoning. It's a small but noteworthy detail that sets them apart from the competition. Of course, no burger experience is complete without the perfect dipping sauce, and Patty's Slap doesn't disappoint in this department either. Offering a variety of options, from classic ketchup to more adventurous choices, like the truffle sauce, there's something to please every palate. The truffle sauce, in particular, stands out as a crowd favorite, with its rich, earthy flavor complementing the burgers and fries impeccably. The poutine was also nice, the gravy had a familiar taste and the cheese portion was generous. In conclusion, Patty's Slap may not reinvent the wheel when it comes to burgers, but it offers a solid dining experience with attention to detail and a few surprises along the way. Whether you're a local looking for a new favorite spot or a visitor eager to sample Montreal's culinary delights, Patty's Slap is worth a visit.

But what truly sets Patty slaps apart is its commitment to quality ingredients, convinience - you order yourself on the touch screen. The newest entry to the smash burger restaurants. Located in downtown Montreal, this hamburger joint gives off the vibe of being upbeat and hip (definitely catering towards the younger crowd). Ordering can be done at the counter but the 3 self ordering screens at the entrance, which may be intimidating, are in fact quite user friendly. With large pictures, you’ll see exactly what you’ll be ordering. You can even customize your burger. Just a word of caution, if you decide to pay at the counter after submitting your order, do that immediately or else your order will not be processed (something I did not do and that increased my wait time🫤!) I ordered the Crunch burger with fries and a fountain drink. The burger was juicy and tasty though it was a little small, as was the portion of the fries. The meal cost me $25 but the establishment is in the heart of downtown. It’s clean, decor is bbq styled brick walls with art and building ducts/piping along the ceilings. Music is a little loud so it may be a little difficult to hear your name called when your order is ready. This can be avoided by scanning the QR code at the end of self ordering process for a notification. The staff is friendly. 20-30 minute wait time for your burger just shows your burger is freshly made when ordered. There is no dedicated parking. Final thoughts, gourmet burger trio is a little pricey compared to other smash burger competitors. Portions are a little small but the juiciness and flavours of the burger is quite good so a visit to this burger joint would be recommended for a relaxing...
