I'm giving an overall review of a 3 only because we got carry out to eat later and the staff is not willing to do any changes to their menu and WILL NOT put any sauces on the side. You can't even get a side of Mayo or mustard. The cashier did not speak English well so she kept going back to the guys in the kitchen and asking them to translate certain things, which was strange because my boyfriend speaks French but I'm not sure if she spoke French either, maybe she just didn't know how to answer us in general. We were so excited to try this place as we just finished a week in NYC and had some pretty amazing Italian sandwiches there. We visit family in Montreal regularly so we were hoping to put this place on our regular rotation. If your customer tells you they are going to eat the sandwiches later at the airport, when you literally had only one other customer sitting inside, why wouldn't you try to make their experience great? Why do you insist they get the sandwiches as is and allow the sandwich to get soggy and gross? It's a bad reflection on you and your food. If it was busy, I'd understand but not one person was behind us. And we only got 2 sandwiches so how hard is it to put your red pestomayo on the side for the DNA? Or the Tarramayo for the Monster on the side or the vinegar on the side? Ramikins aren't that expensive and your sandwiches aren't cheap so why wouldn't you be a bit flexible and put sauces on the side so your bread and sandwiches aren't wet and soggy if someone can't eat it within 10 minutes of getting it? The flavors were good, this place has potential but a restaurant who thinks their menu can't be adjusted at all because they think it's perfect how they created it is going to end up losing. Your taste isn't everyone's taste and there is no reason why a customer can't add or subtract sauces or items on your sandwiches or at least have a "create your own" option for those who may not like what you put on your sandwiches. Easy fix. Don't be those types of pretentious...
Read moreDecided to give MONO a try after hearing positive comments about them but was left disappointed.
To start, we came in the afternoon and the restaurant had minimal foot traffic. The cashier behind the counter was the only staff available to manage all the food coming out of the kitchen, both for online orders and for front of house, and it was apparent they were minimally trained and overwhelmed. The service was slow and all tables were left dirty and uncleaned.
Upon ordering, we were provided a glass bottle of water which we could not drink because we were not given cups, nor were there any available for us.
We waited 15-20 minutes for 3 sandwiches, one of which never came. My friend waited an additional 20 minutes for his sandwich and when inquiring about it, he was informed that the kitchen never started making it. Cancelling the order also proved to be a challenge as the cashier did not know how to fulfill a refund and was on the phone, presumably with management. The kitchen staff also did not seem pleased to be told that they made an error.
Of the sandwiches that did arrive, we were not impressed by the quality nor flavors. The Napoli focaccia sandwich was minimally filled, leaving half of the sandwich to be bare and heavy on bread. The focaccia also felt stale; it was chewy, dense, and dry. I also paid for an extra of sauce on the side which I only received when I requested for it at the counter near the end of my meal.
Overall, we were disappointed by our experience with MONO, especially considering one person never received their food. We understand sometimes staff can be overwhelmed, and perhaps we simply caught them...

I recently visited Mono Montreal and was pleasantly surprised by this charming sandwich spot tucked away on Crescent Street. If you’re looking for a place that delivers both quality and a warm atmosphere, this is it.
The Food: I opted for the Crescent Sandwich, featuring smoked beef shoulder, ricotta, tomato, and pesto. Every bite was a delight—the beef was tender and flavorful, perfectly complemented by the creamy ricotta and the fresh burst of tomato. The pesto tied everything together beautifully, adding that extra layer of richness without overpowering the other ingredients. It's clear that the team at Mono Montreal takes pride in their sandwich creations, focusing on quality ingredients and balanced flavors.
The Service: The staff were incredibly friendly, which made the experience all the more enjoyable. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and well taken care of. It’s not every day that you find a place where the staff genuinely seem to enjoy what they do, and it shows in the service they provide.
The Ambiance: Mono Montreal has a nice, quiet location that’s perfect for a relaxed meal. Whether you're looking to grab a quick bite or sit down and savor your sandwich, the atmosphere here is just right. The interior is cozy without being cramped, and the overall vibe is laid-back, making it an ideal spot to unwind.
Final Thoughts: I can confidently say that Mono Montreal is a must-visit if you’re in the area. The combination of fantastic food, friendly service, and a pleasant atmosphere makes it stand out. I will definitely be returning to try more...
