Breaks my heart to have to leave such a bad review, but here’s my story :
I started going to Ganadara 5 years ago, and it quickly became one of my favourite restaurants in Montréal. Nevermind waiting upwards of half an hour outside just to get a table, the food was more than enough reason to justify the wait. I like the place so much that I used to go on average once a month!
It all changed when my significant other took me out for dinner (on my birthday, mind you) last week. Typical line of 20+ people waiting outside the restaurant, with an estimated 20-30 minute wait. Nothing new here. The waitress greets us outside and asks how many of us we were in our group (2). A few minutes later, she fetches us and leads us to our table.
We had been seated for at least five minutes when that same waitress walked up to us, and explained that “there had been a mistake, and that she should have seated another group before us” and asked us to leave and go back outside to wait. We were immediately taken aback by her request. As customers, we protested by saying that we should not be the ones to be penalized by the waitress’s mistake. She repeated the same phrase a second time, and we understood that further protest would only be met with an unpleasant experience for both parties. We therefore got up from our seats and left, telling the waitress she had just lost two loyal customers (she did not seem to care).
This situation was extremely upsetting, given that we had tolerated the long lines in this restaurant for years. This lack of respect on behalf of the employee was, however, too much and I’m afraid we have to forget this restaurant by principle that customers should never have to put up to blatant disrespect from an institution simply because they have enough customers to afford...
Read moreThis place has the best Korean food I have ever had! It's a small place and you will always find a line at the front door so you better get there soon or you'll have to wait in line! They have this bowl of popcorn chicken with some kind of sweet sauce that I love. There is this one dish full of french fries with cheese and seafood, it's the best plate you can ask for if you love french fries with seafood and hot sauce (don't try it if you are not used to hot spicy food because you'll be crying as did I, I'm not joking). Waiters are super busy and in a rush all the time so it's kinda hard to get their attention but as long as the food is good I'm not complaining. I've also tried their bibimbap bowl which comes in two different bowls based on your choice, hot bowl and normal bowl, both are very tasty! The portions of food are amazingly big, you'll definitely not walk out of here with a half empty stomach! I hope they keep up their good quality and delicious food because it's one of the few places I get cravings for all the time. You could also order take out if you don't want to wait in a long line and enjoy the...
Read moreHow I knew about this awesome Korean restaurant? When I passed Maisonneuve street on my bike in the summer, I always saw a long line there. It doesn’t have a restaurant sign. I was curious, so I stopped and asked the people in the line... some Korean, and some others like Canadians and other nationalities. So I realized it’s a very good Korean restaurant that is worth waiting in the line, even in the cold winter. I didn’t forget there. Finally I got to go there 2 days ago(march2019) with a friend. It was awesome, very very nice staff, reasonable prices, delicious food, ... I ordered Tonkatsu(fried pork with sides) and my friend got “Dupbap au Bulgogi” which Was even better!! Definitely recommend for who like east asian cuisine. I saw the little fried chicken dish on the other tables, and gonna try them next time. (Just one suggestion: I also got a dish for take out: the “Tobboki poutine suprime”, but didn’t like it. To me, it was like you go to a buffet restaurant and put a little of everything in one dish: fries, noodles, mules, shrimp, pork, and many more. Not...
