Absolutely terrible. Reviews are inaccurate. We thought the restaurant would be good since so many people like it, but really it’s the most disgusting “Chinese” food we’ve had. We had the Peking duck 3 course meal; the soup was literally cabbage and water with duck bones that looked like they had been chewed and thrown in immediately before serving. It completely lacked the flavour of the duck that I remember from home cooked duck soup. The noodles were sub par at best. The duck wraps were okay, far from great though. Not to mention the service...also awful. Said it was the best Peking duck...I’ve had better from the Chinese grocery store 5 minutes away. Just take it home and do it yourselves, save yourselves from paying double price for the same duck prepared like garbage. YouTube will teach you how to prepare a 3 course meal with it. The fish was promised to be alive and fresh before being cooked. Lies...anyone who has had live fish would know it was dead. Not to mention we found the same fish (dore) at the supermarket 2 min away hmmm coincidence? Then she had the audacity to demand a tip (we were going to give one anyway but really she did not deserve one). We give mon nan -5 (negative five) stars. DO...
Read moreWe went to this restaurant because a friend recommended it highly. To start off, the manager who seated us was annoyed because we did not have the official Quebec QC code proof of COVID-19 vaccination. We are visitors to Montreal from British Columbia, so how could we have such proof? He barely accepted our BC vaccination cards which had been readily accepted by every other retail establishment in Montreal. He warned us that next time we won't be seated. He need not worry; there won't be a next time. We asked if the "dumplings" listed on the menu were jiaozi or baozi, two very different type of dumplings. He merely repeated "dumplings" and refused to tell us what type. The waiter then refused to bring us tap water to drink, justifying this as a COVID-19 prevention measure. We are medical epidemiologists and know that this is nonsense. The food was the typical faux Chinese served in "Chinese" restaurants throughout North America. Most dishes were made to appeal to North American tastes - pretty bland or too sweet - nothing like the food we have eaten in Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, or Chengdu. So all in all, given the mediocre food and surly greeting, we cannot recommend...
Read moreI have never felt so uncomfortable in a room before. I waited 15 minutes to be seated. The menu didn't have any interesting choices so I chose a "chef special", but the waitress said that is for "Chinese" people only and that I wouldn't like it. (then why write it in english/french?) So then I said, "what would you recommend?" And she pointed to shrimp with salt and pepper. I could make that at home, so I just continued browsing the menu. She just got frustrated, speaking with me in an intimidating tone like I shouldn't even be there. She slapped her paper and pencil on the table and said I could just write what I wanted.
There is no way this restaurant could last the way it does by selling food and hospitality, this establishment (which looks stuck in the 90's), is a front for something else. It is at the outskirts of Chinatown where its not crowded at all.
I was so appalled by this behaviour you wouldn't even expect in a jail, so I left. and found a better place that had modern...
