Mai Xiang Yuan is an absolute gem that delivers an unforgettable culinary experience from start to finish. We began our meal with two refreshing cold starters: the Cucumber Salad and Wood Ear Mushroom Salad—both perfectly seasoned with just the right balance of garlic, vinegar, and sesame oil. Each bite was crisp, clean, and packed with flavour. But the star of the appetizer round was definitely #55: the Cilantro and Black Mushroom Salad. Earthy, aromatic, and beautifully balanced, it offered a unique texture and taste that elevated the entire dining experience
For the main event, we shared an order of fried pork and cabbage dumplings—crispy on the outside and juicy within, each dumpling bursting with well-seasoned filling that left us wanting more. The boiled lamb and spring onion dumplings were equally exceptional: tender, comforting, and infused with the subtle sweetness of spring onion that paired beautifully with the richness of the lamb.
Everything was made even better with a couple of cold Tsingtao beers to wash it all down. The pairing of the dumplings and Tsingtao was nothing short of perfect—light, refreshing, and incredibly satisfying.
Service was prompt, friendly, and welcoming. This is a spot where tradition meets quality, and every dish reflects the care and craft of true culinary artistry. We’ll be...
Read moreWhenever I come here I’m never left disappointed. The service is great and everyone there is kind. On the other hand the food is delicious!
Now when it comes to the food I ordered 3 things:
Pork & Chives Xiao long baos Pork & Shrimp Xiao long baos Pan fried pork & chives dumplings
The Xiao long baos (soup dumplings) were outstanding! The pork & chives ones have a light flavour and the soup is so flavourful. I wasn’t the biggest fan of soup dumplings before this restaurant. I found that the soup was more greasy somehow. The soup is light and the flavour just burst into your mouth. The pork & shrimp soup dumplings were on another level. If you aren’t able to eat shrimp I recommend the pork & chives! The pork & shrimp dumplings had so much flavour. The umami taste that leaves you wanting another one. I love how there is so many different types of dumplings on the menu too. The pan fried dumplings are great as well! You can’t go wrong with pan fried dumplings. I’m personally a fan of the chicken pan fried dumplings here but I decided to try the pork ones. The pork & chives are heavy but the crispness of the skin goes so well with the filling. There is also lots of seating and its cash only but they have a atm at the front! If you plan on going here...
Read moreAvoid! Horrible service, awful food, cash only. Service: a. ordered crab xiao long bao, but realized they gave me the regular xiao long bao when I got home. b. We sat down at a table because we thought it's okay to be seated while waiting for our takeout like every other restaurants we had been to, but owner asked us to stay at the corner, took away our water and told us that we messed up his ''seating/ordering system'' even though the restaurant had plenty of spaces when we got there - what's wrong of having your takeout customers to be seated at a table when you are not at your max capacity? ofc we could move to the corner if you have more customers coming in later. So takeout customers pleae be aware - you probably would want to take a walk for about 15-20 mins after you place the order, else you dont deserve to be provided with any level of service even though you might need to wait for quite a while Food: one of the wrost xiao long bao I have ever tried - extremely thick skin, plain taste, no juice inside. I'm from Shanghai where xiao long bao is originated, I can say this is not authentic at all.
The only plus I can say about this place is that the server was pretty polite...
