OREHAB Massage SPA (Chinatown) — Local services in Montreal

I just changed my 5* review for 1*. I was really happy with the service until I found out They lied to me saying that I could make a reclamation to my insurance after an injury and now I cant get it because almost all therapists there are actually not legally registered to the company. My appointments were in january and february and Ive been trying to fix the issue with them since March. They made me send my receipts to a personal phone number, on their official email, they asked my infos on the phone numerous times without fixing the issue. And now they are litterally hanging up on me without explaination instead of helping me. The treatments were expensive but I still gave a very generous tip to support them because I was counting on getting some of it with my insurances. But in the end I got lied to in ripped off. I advice anyone reading this to not go there if you are low income and count on your insurances. This place is a huge disappointment!

UPDATE: they called me only few hours after editing this review threating me to never fix the issue if I dont remove the review. I told them to fix it before I do since Ive been waiting for a very long time. Its been a month since this call and they have done nothing. Its been almost 7 months since the first event. If I can give you one last advice, dont let this type of energy...

MON HISTOIRE: Suite à un léger accident, après avoir passé deux nuits sans dormir à cause de douleurs dans les jambes, j'ai pris rendez-vous avec Nancy, qui m'a donné un massage d’acupression. Depuis les années 1980, j'ai reçu de nombreux traitements d'acupuncture et différents types de massage pour divers problèmes corporels, mais jamais comme celui-ci. Pendant les deux jours qui ont suivi, ce massage m’a apporté plus de bienfaits que tous les soins reçus au cours de toutes ces années. Elle avait non seulement complètement éliminé la douleur en une seule séance d’une heure mais également ouvert toute la circulation de l'énergie (Chi) dans mon corps et je me suis senti tellement vivant, physiquement et émotionnellement pendant les deux jours suivants, avant de retrouver mon état «ordinaire». C’est à partir de ce moment que de client, je suis devenu étudiant. En plus de fournir des soins de santé, Orehab est également une école de massage. Je cherchais déjà une école de massage depuis quelques mois dans le but d’accéder à une carrière en massothérapie et j’ai su que c’était LE massage pratiqué à Orehab que je voulais apprendre. Ce qui est unique à cette école, c'est que l’enseignement est transmis à une seule personne à la fois. Dans la salle de massage, il y a la professeure, l'élève et la modèle. La modèle est une massothérapeute professionnelle qui peut indiquer à l'élève si la pression est correcte et au bon endroit, si les diverses interventions exercées sont adéquates. Bien entendue, l’élève reçoit le massage lors des cours de façon à connaître le ressenti dans son propre corps. C'est tellement différent d'une école où le (la) modèle est une personne du public qui a acheté un massage à bas prix ou encore, un(e) autre élève qui n’a pas l’expérience d’une massothérapeute professionnelle.

MY STORY: After spending two nights without sleeping because of deep pain in my legs, I ended up getting an appointment with Nancy who gave me an acupressure massage. For the next two days, I got more benefits from that massage than all the cares I had received together during all those years ! She had completely opened the circulation of energy (Chi) in the meridians of my body and I felt so alive, physical and emotionally during 48 hours, before I went back to my ‘’ordinary ‘’state of being. From that moment, from being a client, I became a student. Orehab provides health cares and is also a school. As I was already shopping for a massage school for a few months, I knew right away that it was the massage I wanted to learn and give as a massotherapist in a future career. What is unique about that school is that the courses are given to one student at the time. In the massage room, there is the teacher, the student and the model. The model is a professional massotherapist who can tell the student if the pressure is exactly on the acupoint or not, if the student follows exactly the meridian, with the right pressure. This is so much different than a school where the model is someone from the public who paid a low price to receive a massage or, another student who don’t have the experience to guide the...

The Good & The Bad

We decided at the last minute to get a massage on a busy Saturday. To our surprise the owner was able to accommodate both of us at our preferred time.

On arrival we stood outside the door ringing the door bell every few minutes or so as there was no answer. After re-calling the owner, finally someone released the door lock and allowed us to come upstairs.

Shortly after the owner arrived and was in a major hurry to collect full payment for two 90 minute “Acupuncture Massage” before the massage began.

The lady had a wonderful friendly therapist who gave a memorable acupuncture treatment, while the man received a regular Swedish style body massage with oil which was quite therapeutic, just not what we paid for. She was very appreciative of the small tip provided!

After the massage the man attempted to tip the young lady a token five-dollar tip in recognition of her efforts, albeit it was not the massage he paid for.

The therapist then became quite indignant first refusing the money and then began insulting the man verbally for not giving more, when he refused, she snatched the money out of his hand and disappeared!

One good massage and one nasty experience.
