La Capital Tacos — Restaurant in Montreal

I used to love to go here, my boyfriend first took me here in 2020 and service / food was great. We would come back every-time we visited Montreal. When starting to come during 2021 things changed a little bit with consistency of the food we were being served but we still continued to support them, we even bought they're merchandise, we really liked this restaurant.

We moved close by and started eating there in person, the service was terrible!! We even spoke with the waiters about it multiple visits. One visit when finally getting seated (restaurant was not full) we had to get up and order inside because staff never came to our table after 15 minutes, when finally getting our food I ordered quesabirria, it was missing the consome and we also never got cutlery, I asked our waiter and it never came, my boyfriend had to get up and ask another waiter for these items after 10 minutes. My quesabirria was cold by the time I received the remainder of my food & cutlery etc.

The next time we ordered we decided to get takeout (once again you may ask why we continued to go here, we live nearby and did once enjoy the food). We ordered the taco pastor, quesabirria and frijoles. This is our regular order, I asked to have the cheese grilled on the quesabirria and that was our only request. We received the order and after reaching home realizing part of the order was missing, and the only request was not made. If this was only the first time we received bad service I would not have been as upset, but it is consistently bad after even speaking with staff about it. I went back to the restaurant, now our food was cold, but the WORST part of all is during a pandemic how disgustingly unhygienic the staff was. While walking there the employee who served us was having a cigarette outside, he comes back in when he sees us and without washing his hands we explained food is missing and he goes right to the kitchen and serves us our missing item, Disgusting! This was it for La Capital for us.

I didn't want to write this on google initially but my bf had responded to one of their posts on instagram explaining the issue and hoping they could work on it and wishing them luck, their response was to delete the feedback and block him. This is not how to handle situations, the reason we had to write feedback to a post is because we gave feedback in person and never seen a change.

Let me start off by saying that these were probably the best (fried) shrimp tacos I have ever eaten. If you're on the fence about this place, it's worth trying. I normally don't really care for shrimp tacos, but I would order these again.That being said, I would be very hesitant to return.

I'm hoping the service was off because of how under-staffed they seemed to be. The tacos were actually pretty excellent. I would like to come back to try more, but the service left my wife and I pretty disappointed. Took away from our overall experience.

Service was slow (even when we were one of a few parties to be in the restaurant at first), and the waiter made it almost impossible to order drinks. We actually really wanted to order margaritas, but he was so stressed and rushed that he didn't even acknowledge their drink program. The girls next to us eventually got drinks and found them pretty sour but promising.

The waiter did not write down our order. He brought us the wrong salad and then also messed up my wife's order of mushroom tacos but tried to play it off like they were just taking long. We ate the salad, but didnt love the cucumber/watermelon mix. And yes, I had to eat and finish my tacos before my wife even got her mushroom tacos (which she really enjoyed the flavour for, but found very oily).

For how long it took to serve us and for messing up our order, most restaurants would have at least acknowledged their failures and apologized. Most would have offered something on the house. We received nothing. Will we return? Maybe. Considering how different the tacos were, that's pretty unfortunate.

The food here is delicious and consistently good! Fair prices too! The only reason I gave two stars is because most of the service here is terrible. I found many of the workers here extremely rude. Out of the 3 times I've been there, only one waitress was nice and the other two times I was there was just terrible, uncaring and rude service. It was my friends birthday and we went to get a few slices of her favorite cake. The waiter seemed fine at first and told us 5 minutes. We waited patiently and then finally after 15 minutes he brought them to us asking for a tip. I found that strange since we took it to go but we tipped him. After leaving we noticed he only gave us one sauce in a tiny container for 4 cakes. When we went back he said it was enough for four cakes but it clearly wasn't and also I had told him it's for four different people so we need 4 containers. He seemed so annoyed and gave us three more containers but filling each one to barely cover the base. There was literally one millimeter of sauce.. It was embarrassingly rude. Especially to treat someone like this on their birthday.

The two workers were rushing so bad that one accidently knocked over a dish that smashed and two minutes later, another worker accidently banged against his co-worker and almost dropped the food. There was so much sweat running down one guy's face and with the way he was rushing, I almost wanted to tell him to stop and take a breath. This place definitely needs to put more resources into customer service/atmosphere. The food may be great, but when you are treated rudely it doesn't make you feel...
