I am struggling to write a review about this place. After craving South Indian food, especially idli and vada for a week, we made the hour long trip to H2. We were the only clients and were asked to sit anywhere we wanted. Found the items we wanted on the last page and we were quick to order. Plain Idli and vada and masala dosa and for drinks a mango lassi and tea. The waiter thought I wanted idli and water?? Despite me pointing to her on the menu what I wanted. With flies all around, we waited.... the first thing that came out was sambar idli with vada in it. Not even close to what I asked for. And it's not even on their menu. Tried to explain myself and the waiter took the plate back. The manager then informed us that there is no more vada and we were given a plate of idli with sambar but no chutney. What on earth was the spice on the idli? Shouldn't be there. And they brought back the plate of sambar idli and told us that if we wanted vada, we could take them out of that plate. Seriously? Then received the mango lassi. What took so long? Save your money. Not worth it. The masala dosa was brought to the table oily and soggy instead of the crispy shell. By then we just wanted to eat and leave. Soon after, we received the tea that was very sweet and served with more sugar on the side. Really? 30 minutes to make tea? The waiter came after we ate half the dosa with another dosa and said that the chef was not satisfied with the previous one and was sending us another one. Wait, why send a not good enough one in the first place? We asked for it to go and a few minutes later, asked for the other half of the dosa we were eating from to go as well. And they just added it to the same box. Should we be surprised? The manager tried to explain that the waitress is new and in training. Then why not shadow her and make sure she is doing her job well? Similar mistakes were done to the table next to us. Seriously, now that I think about it, why did I even tip you? The 2 stars is just because the flavours were decent but not good enough, and 1 more star because they still tried to somehow fix their...
Read moreI made a negative review a long while ago, maybe mid-way through covid when the owners changed because i had a bad experience. The food wasnt nearly as good as the previous owners. I feel sad for the previous owners who due to financial issues lost the business they worked to build and had to sellout due to covid regulations when they were just getting a good build up of regular and new clients. Then these new owners pressured me to delete my negative review if i wanted to be served food by them again. I ended up doing it because I wanted to give them a chance to establish the new business even though i knew I probably wasnt going to return anyway but it seems their food hasnt improved based on the reviews that seem real as opposed to fake. I wish i could contact the original owners to see where they are now and what they're doing but i have no idea how i would reach them. Its really hard to find amazing tasting and fresh indochinese and South Indian food in Montreal, and the previous owners gave me that initial super positive experience with super kind service as well. I hope...
Read moreExcellent service. The food is AMAZING and reasonably priced. Great atmosphere.
They were very accommodating to all diets at our large and diverse table. Vegans and carnivores will be equally satisfied with options and attention to detail.
If you like spicy, this place does it right. They understand how to use hot spices for their flavor. Others try to bowl you over with heat - it is not the same! Again, they were very respectful of and accommodating to the various needs of our table, and happily included less spicy alternatives and optional additions to suit our requests. The gunpowder they use on the perfectly cooked Dosa is savory and rich. We asked that it be used on the side so that people could regulate the amount to their desires. I could eat it by the spoonful.
I was most impressed by the Med Vada. It's the freshest, best tasting Vada I've ever had in my life. If I lived in Montreal I would eat it every single day.
They take pride in their work and are really happy to see you happy. Go to H2 Hyderabad House right...
