I recently visited this wonderful restaurant in Montreal with some friends while traveling from California, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience! The food was absolutely delicious. We tried a variety of dishes including the risotto, beef tartare, salmon tartare, and the entrecôte, all of which were cooked to perfection. For dessert, we indulged in the panna cotta, crème brûlée, and gâteau du Fromage, each one a delightful end to a remarkable meal. The highlight of the evening was the warmth and hospitality from the owner, who was present throughout our meal, greeting us with a smile and checking in on how we were doing. His attention to detail truly enhanced our dining experience. We brought our own bottle of Peruvian wine and a French wine, and to finish it off the evening we have an Italian digestive.

His attention to detail truly enhanced our dining experience. We brought our own bottle of Peruvian wine and a French wine, and to cap off the evening, we shared an Italian liquor digestive with the owner, who graciously reciprocated with a token of his appreciation—a lovely decorative item. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a night of great food and even better company. It’s clear that this place values both quality food and customer experience, making it a must-visit. I will absolutely return on my next trip to Montreal. Highly...
Read moreThe food at Monsieur B was poorly presented, without any care or attention to detail, the taste at best was utterly bland and pedestrian, but mostly simply bony tasty. The main dishes come with practically no sides, and if there are sides, they consist of one undercooked piece of Broccoli and something resembling potato chips. The chefs seem lazy and amateurish, or they may not care at all about the food they send out to the customers, and I suspect they are not properly trained. I wouldn't complain if this were some sports bar, where you expect average food, but then you are not charged over 40 dollar for a small piece of fish with no sides at all (except 2 leaves of lettuce). I returned more than half of my main dish, which was announced on the menu suggesting you get a sliced steak but ended up like a pile of pulled pork, tasting cheaply sweet. We complained, but the chefs seemed to shrug it off -- nothing was offered not even an apology to make up for this total lack of professionalism. Again over 40 dollars for some pulled beef in BBQ sauce (not quite French food). We felt completely robbed. Monsieur B seems to be a phoney place, pretentious, with the promises on the menu out of step with their abilities. There are other choices on the plateau for BYOB French restaurants (Pegasse, le Bleu Raisin) that are fairly priced (cheaper than Monsieur b), very enjoyable, professional, serving the promise french food. Monsieur B seems to resemble more a tourist trap than a serious french restaurant. I cannot recommend this...
Read moreBefore reserving, I spoke to 3 different staff member who confirmed the place is baby friendly. Upon arriving, I realized it wasn't in fact baby friendly because there was no baby set-up and the personnel there confirmed it wasn't baby friendly. I then asked if we could at least bring a chair for the baby so she would be at table-level (instead of being placed on the floor, in her carriage). The personnel then proceeded explaining "this is the first thing we confirm with clients, it is to ask them if there is a baby because we do not accommodate baby" and left. I mean, you couldn't even bring an extra chair, when I had confirmed to already 3 staff that I needed an extra spot for a baby ?! This staff was straight up condescending. Thank god the parents were okay with the baby being placed on the floor in her carriage.
Also, although the waiter/waitress might say otherwise, the items on la table d'hôte (7 or 6 course menu) are tapa-sized/one bite size. If you're hungry hungry, you should get more items from the menu or eat a bit before or grab fast-food after, like us.
Overall, I would not recommend this place because 1) the personnel is condescending, and 2) for the $$ you pay, the food isn't great. I had a soup that legit tasted like washed out / diluted tea ?? Save your money and go somewhere where staff will be...
