Wow Thai Son deserves every stars! This is such an underrated gem. It’s your old school Asian restaurant serving the best Vietnamese food and Chinese roasted meat. I stopped by at lunch to get a roast pork banh mi and knew I have to bring my family here. The ladies serving us were pleasant and I really appreciate them accommodating our group of 7 even though it was 30 minutes to their closing time. The dishes we tried were really authentic. Their BBQ meat are so good and the value is great. We tried their roast duck and pork and were amazed. The interior and exterior of the building may makes people skeptical at first, but that’s how you know an Asian restaurant is good! Thai Son is a hidden gem in Montreal. Our family had peking duck, was very delicious. Despite visiting Thai Son many times, I was a bit hesitating to write this review due to reading some of the negative feedbacks because as a a customer, I want to provide fair reviews. Still, my family and I had never experienced bad treatments even though we’ve come back several times so I think the restaurant definitely deserves a shot to be known by more customers or simply, and especially if you miss and seek authentic peking-style/ Chinese BBQ dishes. The reason for this 1 star is absolutely because of the butcher guy whose attitude is a total joke. Very disappointing because the owner and cashier are all very sweet and friendly, the food is decent. I came back to Montreal this time after 3 years, rushing to the store for my favorite BBQ pork and duck. Ordered 4 items including half bbq duck. My mom and I asked the butcher guy 2 times if the duck is in the pack before we’re leaving. Still, there’s no duck in the bag when we opened the pack afterward at home. We called the store and the owner and cashier was so apologetic and gave us back the portion we ordered. But no apologies from the butcher guy - just a very rude look at my mom and me.
