When you travel alone, finding a place to dine alone is important. It is hard to find a place where you don’t feel rushed , or because you are a party of one, disdained. Personally, I prefer not to have bar seating, I like to be seated in an area I where feel comfortable and not pathetically out of place. It is these little nuances that this solo traveler looks for and needs. In Montreal, one of those places I found is Stanley. Located in the Le Centre Sheraton, this hotel spot fits every solo traveler’s need. Comfy dining room. Or, if preferred, very comfortable bar seating. Add extremely approachable, friendly, helpful servers who are knowledgeable in their craft and experienced with recommendations of food and wine, and you have the perfect place to settle in. Dinner this evening with Katarina serving was professional and personable. Her wine recommendation for me couldn’t be rivaled by a five star sommelier. My only regret? I didn’t order the wine by the bottle. My “Sunday Roast” dinner was exactly what this weary traveler needed and I have no regrets for the calories taken in by dessert. The popcorn crème brûlée was beyond special. While Montreal is a beautiful, vibrant city filled with foodie adventures, if you just need to stop for a moment, if you just need an early dinner before a busy Sunday and a packed week ahead, I highly recommend Stanley at Le Centre Sheraton. Don’t forget to ask for Katarina. When traveling, everyone needs to feel the warmth of a connection.

If I could put 0 stars I would. please save your hard earned money & avoid this place don’t be fooled by the nice aesthetics pictures & videos. We came for a Sunday brunch, looking at the prices & after long minutes of waiting we expected a lot. Our plates came presentation was ok. They put 0 effort into cooking the food.. potatoes tasted like something they just took out of the freezer and throwed in a microwave with 0 taste ,. The rest was just bland ,very cold, no flavour feels like they served us food that was sitting for 2 days noting fresh. I only took a few bites couldn’t even force myself to eat. Very very disappointed especially with prices like this you can find wayyy much better restaurants in Montreal don’t waste your time & money.

This restaurant is located inside the Sheraton and has a very comfortable setting. The servers were attentive and provided great service. The food was good and nicely presented. The only downside was the portion size, which we found a bit small. It would be much better if the servings were slightly larger. Also, since the dining area is right beside the hotel check-in lobby, it can get a little distracting. There were kids running around and people constantly walking by, which made the dining experience feel less private and a bit uncomfortable. Overall, a pleasant place to dine with good service and food, but there is room for improvement in portion size and seating location.

What a gorgeous restaurant. My friends and I went in for a birthday breakfast celebration Friday April 18th 2025. Even though our party arrived late to the reservation (near the end of breakfast service) the staff were nothing but kind, adaptable and professional. With many indoor parking options and street parking nearby there are abundant spaces nearby to park! Once we got in we were seated in the center most table of the restaurant, perfect for taking birthday pictures! I’d love to mention the staffs great communication skills especially Habib who was the star of the morning!

But first breakfast, we had ordered the breakfast bowl, avocado toast, omlette, grilled cheese and the assiette complète. All meals arrived abour 5 minutes after ordering. We all appreciated how the ingredients were fresh and the breakfast wasn’t too heavy or greasy. I didn’t catch the name of the server but he was a bald man with glasses. Extremely accommodating and efficient, we really appreciated his proficiency!

Back to Habib he went above and beyond to make the time we had extra special. From the moment we walked in until we left. He knew because we came to our reservation late and service was ending soon that our birthday breakfast wouldn’t last too long. Therefore he went the extra mile without being asked to make it special. Habib ensured the quality of our food was up to standard and that we had enough table condiments for everyone at the table. They come in mini glass jars and are just so adorable!! He then surprised us all with bringing out a beautifully decorated nutty birthday dessert with a candle after breakfast so we could sing to our dear friend!!! It doesn’t stop there he mentioned all the favourite spots in the restaurant for pictures and made sure to get a shot of us at each one. As we thanked him for his stellar service and hospitality ready to part ways he called us back. He mentioned there was an even more beautiful spot to take pictures with a REAL view, oh he wasn’t lying. We proceeded to be escorted to the 37th floor, on the ride up explaining the significance of the room to honour Sheratons special guests. The views up there were just gorgeous! From there we could see the bridge, river and mountains on the horizon. Habib must also be a photographer on top of an amazing Sheraton employee because he took even more great pics of us up there. Positioning us to get the pictures just right. He mentioned the exciting weekend brunch and classy dinner service on the way back down to the restaurant. We will definitely be coming back soon. Huge thanks to Habib for making this already special day so so so much more memorable. You are an exemplary depiction of putting the customer first. We had the best time thanks to you and couldn’t stop talking about how impressive your customer service skills were afterwards. You made our day 💖 See documentation below! Thanks Habib and the...

I chose this restaurant to celebrate my birthday because I had been once before and thought it was decent enough: the location is nice, the food is okay, and the staff was fine the first time. I made a reservation for 10 people and clearly noted that it was for a birthday and that I’d be bringing a cake.

Everything was fine until it came time to serve the cake. That’s when I was abruptly approached by someone who seemed to be the manager, informing me there was a $6 per person cake-cutting fee. At no point was I told about this in advance—not on their website, not on my reservation confirmation, not when we were seated, and not by our server. Had I known, I wouldn’t have booked here. It’s not about the fee—it’s about the shady lack of transparency and poor communication.

After a back-and-forth with the manager (who couldn’t show me this policy in fine print) we finally reached a compromise and were able to eat the cake. But from that moment on, the service got horrible. Waiters took forever to get to us, and it literally took 10 minutes just to get forks so we could eat the cake.

To top it all off, when one of my friends was trying to pay, her “tap to pay” payment option wasn’t working and I also tried to pay and it just wasnt connecting. We politely asked to try a different machine thinking that it was the problem and got “it was working just fine” as a response. When he finally got another machine, the server manually entered the amount, added a 20% tip without asking, and tried to hide the machine from my friend so she wouldn’t see what he had input. That’s straight up dishonest and scammy.

This entire experience felt so unwelcoming and unprofessional. The food was the only okay part of the day—and even that wasn’t anything special. I’m honestly so shocked that this is the way they decided to handle the situation. Do yourself a favor and book...

We came to Stanley for a friend’s birthday brunch and were beyond disappointed. From start to finish, it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.

First, we had clearly noted during the reservation that we were bringing a birthday cake — not once during booking, nor when we arrived and physically handed them the cake, did anyone mention a $6 per person cake-cutting fee. Only when it was time to cut the cake did a staff member abruptly try to enforce this policy. When questioned and asked to show where this was listed on the website, he failed to do so — because it wasn’t.

Then, it took forever to simply get a knife to cut the cake. After finally cutting it, we waited 25 full minutes to receive forks — which only happened after one of us had to get up and ask a server directly. We have timestamped video footage proving this delay.

The payment situation was just as frustrating. One of our group’s cards wasn’t being read by their machine — not declined, just a tech issue — and instead of handling it professionally, the server responded with an attitude, implying it was our fault. When he eventually brought a new machine, he took it upon himself to increase her tip from 10% to 20% without informing her — which is completely unethical and dishonest.

To top it off, we were clearly treated differently than other guests. Tables that arrived after us were served more promptly, while we sat waiting for basic items like utensils and drinks.

Moreover I actually have video footage of one of the waitresses rolling her eyes at her colleague whilst singing happy birthday and cutting off everyone’s singing then walking away. UNACCEPTABLE. Disorganized, rude, and borderline discriminatory. Avoid this place if you’re looking for a pleasant dining experience — or at the very least, one where you’re treated with...
