I love this place! First time I went was at the location on Monkland in 2018 when I first moved to Montreal. After relocating downtown, I was happy to find Melk nearby!
I come from a coffee enthusiast family, so I take my coffee seriously. Whenever I order a decaf oat latte to go, or a decide to be adventurous with a regular full caff drink, I melt into the first sip and stop in my tracks to appreciate moment. Who knew coffee could be so grounding? I've also had the matcha, but I come back for the coffee.
I've only sat in here 2-3 times because of how busy it can get for such a small cafe, but I'd say the window seat gives you the most peace and privacy!
As for the pastries, they offer gluten-free options, banana bread, carrot apple loaf, cookies, bars, and whatever is on hand at the time. I don't always go for snacks, but from what I can tell, the availabilities change.
They also have a tiny fridge under the counter with juice and other bottled beverages.
I bought two bags of beans, local, to gift to my family. The tasting notes were interesting for a lot of the options available, but I was able to ask the enthusiastic barista for a recommendation based on preparation style and preferred...
Read moreI tried this place a couple of times just to have a fair review. The place is nice, quite small, but it looks cozy a little bit. I don’t see it as a good place to study at or even to set for more than 20-30 minutes I am into lattes in general so I tried their drinks and I couldn’t get a consistent results whenever I go there The lattee tasted a little bit cheap. It had a very weak body with the milk being the star of the drink and not the espresso shot despite that I ordered a small latte (I don’t know why they have large lattes when they consider themselves a third wave café!). The coffee had no recognizable notes and it just wasn’t made right They’re plenty of other café within walking distance from this place that tasted a lot better The staff though were super friendly and spoke both...
Read moreThe worst customer service I’ve ever seen. I work in customer service myself and have high tolerance to what I can ignore. The person at the cashier made the rudest, most mean comment ever. After I mentioned I found the comment unacceptable, I was told “I’m sorry you took it that way”. Later, I got to know she was the actual manager of the place - of course I cannot be 100% sure.
I tried to get in touch with the company on their website and on Instagram, but received no response, so decided to leave a comment here to share my experience.
I’m sad this happened as I LOVED their coffee, I work nearby, and I used to recommend this place to my clients. But coming back there feels embarrassing and uncomfortable as no one seems to care about the customer‘s experience. To be fair, everyone...
