tonight a poor young girl fainted because of the extreme heat. I was standing right next to her. she hit her head so bad when she fell to the ground, the sound was heard by everyone. this was at around 8 pm. I tried to give first aid, but people didn't listen to stand back. they slapped her in the face to wake her up... and put bottles of water under her neck I tried multiple times to explain that the first responders should be called they said they did but they never came (after they moved the girl i dont know ehat happened), one bartende talked on the phone to what i asume was 911... but never directly engaging with the girl... i tried to explain that the girl should not be moved. the manager was more worried about how bad it looked then the poor girl's actual health. nobody had their first aid training. the manager told me to calm down when I spoke to the victim over the.music , as she was in shock. they eventually peer pressured her to.move I explained that if she had any severe damage they can make it worst by moving.... but no one cared to listen. the pretentiousness of the staff who attended the girl and manager went beyond the usual bad vibras I feel when I go there. try it if you want but make sure you don't need any medical assistance because what's most important is the event. without any first aid training the manager had the audacity and attitude that alined with him suiting his own interests. I have nothing against anyone but I don't think they understood the gravity of the situation nor the fact that someone who has their first aid training done multiple times should be left to do the assessment and engage appropriately. I think terasse carla should invest heavily.in training their staff on what to do during emergencies... and maybe not...
Read moreI really enjoy roof terraces (I have one at home) and when I heard about the opening of the Carla terrace, I really wanted to try it. I have previously dined at the Tiramisu restaurant on the ground floor of the same hotel and although it is not the best restaurant in Montreal, the food was fine and I liked the 60's Italian design. Since Chanthy Yen is supposedly the chef of both places, I had another reason to try it. The result: a great disappointment.
The location is great and you have a beautiful sunset; however, while the design is nice, whoever said it was inspired by a Vietnamese garden has never been to Vietnam (or even checks it out on Pinterest). The artificial grass makes the place look cheap and the color scheme is boring.
Going to more important matters, the service was mediocre. The hostess gave us only to one menu for three people and only the menu for drinks. We had to call the waiter and ask for the food menu. We ordered fried calamari, dumplings and fries and a few drinks but the food wasn’t good at all (the dumplings tasted like plastic and the calamari had been refried at least three times). Is it really the chef checking the preparation of the food? I doubt it. If he does it, he should not be called a chef. The food tastes better in any of the many bars and in Montreal where you get the same menu for half the price. The waiter didn't even bother to come and ask if the service was ok or smile at all. On the positive note, the bathrooms were well-maintained and smelled good. In conclusion, go for a drink, take a photo of the sunset and don’t expect quality because you...
Read moreOnly giving one star because the server and manager were the only decent part of this entire disaster. They were polite, understanding, and clearly embarrassed on behalf of the kitchen. We arrived at 8 PM and ordered by 8:20. Our salmon tartare entrées showed up at 9 PM, already unacceptable, and they didn’t even come with bread, which is supposed to be part of the dish. We had to ask three separate times over 40 minutes just to get bread. Then came the wait for the mains. We followed up three more times, being told each time they were “almost done.” At 10 PM , nearly two hours later, we told them if the food wasn’t out in 15 minutes, we were only paying for what we had eaten. At 10:10 PM, the food finally arrived… cold. We ordered the spicy shrimp rigatoni and the salmon with broccolini. The rigatoni came with no shrimp, The salmon was bland, and instead of broccolini, it was served with a mystery brown raisin paste. We asked to speak with the chef to clear up the issue, because why are we being charged $55 for shrimp pasta with zero shrimp? but he refused to come talk to us. He wouldn’t give us the time of day, even after our server tried to get him involved. Our server told us she kept moving our ticket forward, but the chef apparently kept bumping us to the back, even though our table was right in front of the kitchen. This place is a joke. The food is cold, overpriced, and missing ingredients. The kitchen is disorganized and arrogant, and the only people doing their job were the front-of-house staff. Do yourself a favour and eat literally...
