Was very disappointed with the experience I had at this place on the night of Sunday July 17. I had very high hopes after looking at the reviews so was expecting a nice evening on my last night in Montreal. Started off with a bad impression of the hostess who was giving me and my friend dirty looks from the moment we walked in without being greeted. They had the windows wide open so we got constant clouds of cigarette smoke from the people passing by on the sidewalk which is an unpleasant smell when trying to eat food. We ordered 2 cocktails that were mediocre, nothing special about them. We shared the Melanzane which was the only decent thing we had to eat. Then we waited 45 minutes for the prosciutto & fichi pizza and the tonkotsu pasta dish. The restaurant wasn’t even half full for the kitchen to be busy in making our table wait 45 minutes. There were other tables getting their food, eating and leaving in the time we were waiting for our meal. Not once did a server come by to check on us, they seemed too busy sitting at the bar eating their own food with friends. When finally we flagged down a server, our food magically appeared 30 seconds later with the pizza being cold and the wrong pasta dish being sent to us. It took 10 minutes to track down a server to tell them of their error, which they didn’t even realize. After 45 minutes of waiting on food, I now had to wait another 20 minutes to get my correct order. The servers were more concerned about getting us to spend money on drinks, which we were not interested in. For the food, we did not find anything special about it. The lasagna was bland and had way too much sauce on it and the pizza just tasted doughy with not enough toppings. There was 3 slices of prosciutto and 3 quarter pieces of a fig (so not even a whole fig) on our pizza. When it came time for the bill, they were trying to over charge us. Since it wasn’t the same server helping our table through out the night, none of the servers knew what was happening so they tried charging my friend for the pasta that was brought in error and didn’t splitting the pizza even though we told them everything was to be split evenly. The servers didn’t seem to clearly care about our table and wasn’t apologetic about the uncaring service that was given when I was clear unsatisfied with the experience. I am extremely disappointed in the place as it was the one restaurant I was looking forward to on my trip, which ended it on a...
Read moreDuring my recent visit to Tiramisu, I found the overall experience to be quite satisfying. While there were a few aspects that could be improved, there were also notable highlights that made the visit enjoyable.
Starting with the positives, the restaurant's pricing is definitely one of its strong suits. The affordability factor sets Tiramisu apart, making it an attractive option for individuals or families looking for a budget-friendly dining experience. This is especially refreshing considering the rising costs of dining out in many places.
Moving on to the food, I found that while the dishes were good, they tended to lean towards the basic side. The flavors were pleasant and the presentation was decent, but I couldn't help but feel that there was a missed opportunity to offer more unique and innovative menu options. Nonetheless, the quality of the ingredients used in the dishes was evident, and there's something to be said about the comfort of a well-executed basic meal.
One of the aspects that could use some improvement was the service. During my visit, I couldn't help but notice that the service was a bit slow. While I understand that dining establishments can get busy, especially during peak hours, a slightly more attentive and efficient service would have greatly enhanced the overall experience. However, it's worth noting that the staff was friendly and accommodating, which helped balance out the slower service to some extent.
In conclusion, Tiramisu offers a decent dining experience that's marked by its affordability and good, albeit basic, food offerings. While the service might require some improvement in terms of speed, the staff's friendliness goes a long way in making up for it. If you're looking for an affordable place to enjoy a satisfying meal without any frills, Tiramisu could be a worthwhile option...
Read moreSo disappointed by Tiramisu! So loud you barely hear the person in front of you
Pro: food, cocktails, décor (minus the graffiti) : Cons: LOUD LOUD LOUD Will not go again.
Chef Chanthy Yen is a master and I wanted to try Tiramisu because he worked on the menu and plates. Overall, I will never go again in this LOUD restaurant. People at other tables were either screaming at themselves, or just stay silent like the table of 5 I could see from my seat.
FOOD: it’s a pizzeria with influences of Asian cuisine. Very good plates presentation. And it mix well. The pizza dough was nice and airy, flavors were there, interesting combination of mortadella and truffle oil. I recommend this plate. The Tonkotsu was good, but it missed some punch. Pork meat was dry so a little less cooked would have been excellent. Missing a little spicy flavor that would kick just a little (and I’m not a fan of hot dishes). My favorite dish was the Tiramisu for dessert. Light, great coffee flavor.
Drinks: fair on alcohol, and balance between acid, sour, umami and sweet. Definitely you have to try one cocktail.
Ambiance: there is a DJ playing music you could hear on a fashion defile. Loud, rhythmic, and after 2h, you’re feeling you’ve heard quite same song since the beginning. The décor is modern, with concrete surfaces that enhance echo. People come here for drinks and food and get to shout at their friends / partner to be heard. We came at 7, sound was 82dB. At 8pm, it averages 87-88dB. Improvement...
