We’ve been to Great wolf lodge every year and this was our first time learning about this restaurant. We were very excited to see what they had to offer. We made reservations for 630 for 9 people (4 adults, 5 kids). We asked if we could have a cake to celebrate an 9 year old’s birthday and they said no.
All went well until we placed our order. The first batch of apps and kids meals came out fine. The second we placed our mains order around 650 and my 4 and 2 year old and us waited for 45 mins for the food. While waiting I noticed every single table received complimentary bread and butter and revived their apps and mains.
I finally asked if we were supposed to also receive bread and butter and they said yes. When I voiced my concern about the wait time, other tables getting their orders and my kids waiting 45 mins for food, we were brushed off. The waiter said IF I didn’t offer you bread I apologize. IF?!! Then he proceeded to educate me on “fine dining” as if I haven’t been to much fancier places.
His excuse for not bringing the kids meals out is “ the rules of fine dining doesn’t allow me to bring the dishes out separately” ARE YOU KIDDING?!
Then the manager comes out, no apology but instead decided to educate us on when the chit was places (7:03) not sure what took 13 mins to input but ok… then tells me that steak takes that long to make which didn’t answer why my kids’ order (not steak) did not come out.
We’ve been to some of the best steak house in Toronto and this was absolutely the worst timing and service. The condescending answers to our very valid concerns were just appalling and would not recommend this place at all to...
Read moreFood - The food was very tasty. However, I felt like the price was pretty high. They’re trying to be fine dining but it’s not 100% fine dining. This is a family waterpark not the time to take your kids to that sort of event.
That being said, my kids shared the chicken Parm with spaghetti. I’m so happy I chose for them to share that dish because the serving was massive. It tasted good though.
I had the salmon. The salmon was cooked very well. However, there was a gellé on the side that was not necessary. It didn’t add to the dish. Peas not a fan of. I feel like if you’re going to pay that much for a meal peas don’t quite cut it. Also, the main draw to the dish for me was the pickled Enoki mushrooms, however, they felt stringy and strange. They should have been cut up and pickled not whole and pickled.
My husband had the Wagyu beef burger. This burger was absolutely massive. He did really enjoy it but it was a $40 burger. A little intense for a family function.
Service - The servers were all quite nice and very accommodating to the fact that we were dying with young children.
Ambiance - I do like the atmosphere of the restaurant. However, it felt a bit small, luckily, it was not crowded when we were there.
Bathrooms - I don’t believe I used the bathrooms.
Other - We were there on Wednesday night and walked right in without reservations. I am assuming on the weekend you would require reservations. This is inside of great Wolf Lodge, just a heads up in case anybody...
Read moreWe had an absolutely amazing dining experience while celebrating our Anniversary at Barnwood restaurant inside Great Wolf Lodge. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the rustic and cozy ambiance. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and attentive throughout our meal, making us feel like vip’s.
Each dish we tried was a culinary masterpiece. The flavors were exquisite, and the presentation was impeccable. Whether it was the perfectly cooked steak, or filet mignon or the mushroom soup! Don’t forget to try the truffle fries!
What sets Barnwood apart is their commitment to high-quality ingredients, and their commitment to service excellence which adds an extra layer of authenticity to the dining experience.
We enjoyed a bottle of local Niagara wine from Jackson-Triggs and an apple martini.
To top it all off, the atmosphere was ideal for a memorable dining experience, whether it's a romantic dinner or a family gathering. The restaurant's attention to detail, exceptional service, and mouthwatering cuisine make it a must-visit when staying at Great Wolf Lodge. I can't wait to return and savor the flavors of Barnwood once again.
Five stars...
